Topic: General / Yep, I could do it... Dwain, let me know if I answer these questions the way you wanted me to :)
Ok..
CHW,which stands for Color-headed whites, is greatly penalyzed in the ring for shelties, but is acceptable for collies. Is that what you meant? I got kind of confused on that one…
I remember reading something on the t-3 and t-4…it has something to do with thyroid. And I think it’s the t-3 that has a scale of 1-4(?) and…hmm something like that.
About the tranquilizer…I also remember reading this…the drug is Acepromazine and the collie (and greyhound) can’t have it due to the MDR-1,which stands for Multi-drug resistance gene.
I’m not sure of how many people, but I know they have to do the food aggression test, they need to test how the dog is with cats, male dogs, female dogs, kids, etc.
I feel like I’m missing something…but how’s that? |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Oh,I’m sorry I didn’t read your whole post through… American Cocker Spaniel-1878 English-well, this was known as the cocker spaniel until 1946
Oh, and I’ve never met your dog, but the average American Cocker Spaniel is cheery, affectionate and loving…however some can get rage syndrome and the blonde-coated variety tends to be more aggressive. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Oh,yes I am considered an expert. If I told you how old I was, you would most likely look over me anf think I’m some punk kid lookin for trouble or something, but no again…I am actually considered an expert.I could answer just about any question you throw at me about dogs. So, how am I considered an expert at my age (I’m under 20,older than 13)Well, where to begin?! I have at this time three dogs of my own, whom I have taught everything they know.I make sure they’re healthy,I got them on a diet I created myself, I have a notebook especially for recording their waist sizes, weight, etc.I have another notebook for dog information…a 5 subject notebook and I’m on the 3rd section of it and it’s been a little more than 2 months…what do I write in it?Well, I just finished all the AKC dates…now I’m going by groups, etc…like I said this is really hard to explain.I have shown dogs, not for a long time, but 2 years…I’ve done all my grooming,no help… ok the dictionary says expert-skilled or knowledgeable person: somebody with a great deal of knowledge about, or skill, training, or experience in, a particular field or activity I’ve also taken care of countless stray dogs, reunited them with their owners…I’ve had my own dog walking business, dog grooming business, and I’ve worked at 2 animal shelters, and I’m going to my third one this summer.I’m a member of the AKC,ASPCA,and NKC.You guys have no IDEA how much I know about dogs and my history of dogs. So, when push comes to shove, I am definitely an expert. When I get old enough I’m going to be a trainer, groomer, handler, etc etc.I have literally dedicated my life to dogs.

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof I proved this point wrong last week when a guy said the same thing almost at a seminar…he said dogs don’t know what words mean, they know what they feel like….so for kicks and giggles, I did the commands sit, stay, lay down, and stand in the same tone of voice…exactly the way I say it, but different words. For sit, I said “cow” and Jackson just looked at me…I said sit and he sat For “lay down” I said “brown cow” and again, he just looked at me I said “lay down and of course he layed down I did the same basic thing for the other 2 commands. No, dogs do not understand it’s English or whatever language, but they do hear the word, and they know that word means to whatever. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / My idea on training My thing about training is,it’s not done is sessions…training should be happening every minute you are with your dog…. from walking down the street to someone petting the dog,and everything else |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Terrified of vet's hmm…well, your dog has had bad experiences at the vet’s,obviously. The dog is thinking, basically “hey, this is where they did…last time” So, what you need to do, is make it a very enjoyable experience. What I would suggest is come several minutes earlier for your appointment, so your dog can warm up, and remember to use a lot of praise, kind words, and treats.Same thing when the dog gets in the examination room…ask the vet to pet your dog and praise him and just make him as comfortable as possible.Whenever he does something right, say “yay!!” in a high(but not, like squeeky) voice…dogs like that.
Hope this helped

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / My lab wont listen..help Well, he’s not too old, I’ll tell you that. You need to work on “recall”.Do you have a fenced in yard?If not, a 16’ lead will do. WORK AND WORK AND WORK on the command “come”.What I did with Jackson is when he get’s interested in something I’ll say Jackson come, and he knows it. If he’s REALLY into it, I use either “nuh uh!” and/or clap” just to get his attention, and then “Jackson, come”. Remember, praise is a big part in it,too. Also, do not scold the dog when he/she comes back to you…you have to make the coming back an enjoyable thing. The dog does not think the running away part was bad if you scold him/her,it’s the coming back part.To me, training is not done in sessions, training is happening every minute that you’re with your dog.Even if you’re going on a walk, stop for a minute, get your dog to come, sit and stay until you tell him/her to proceed.I did this with Jackson today at the park, and so now he knows the same rules apply at the park, too.Remember, labs are sporting dogs—highly intelligent. You should really have no problems, just a lot of patience, kind words, and treats!
hope this helps

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof first of all, you put AT LEAST two of the stories on there twice, and one of them said “german shepherd attacks rope…” but it’s a puppy “attacking” a rope… Also, most of them were kids being attacked…um…well kids being what kids are they were probably being stupid and pulling the dog’s tail or something. A change in breed, but a few years ago there was a little girl attakced and killed by a saint bernard.Naturally they put the dog asleep and then found a pencil shoved in his ear! Anyway, you proved no point. I found more actual rottweiler attacks…why?Because they attack more…why?Because they’re not pets and are extremely unpredictable. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Aussie6pak, I know all dogs bite…but MY POINT IS ROTTIES ARE VERY UNPREDICTABLE and they’re responsible for a lot of dog-related deaths.Yes, I do have a bad rottie experience.I was at the humane society and this was before I didn’t like the breed, and I went up to this rottie in a pen and said “hey sweetie” and it jumped up in like a second and wanted to kill me!!Why?I didn’t provoke it! Nah, we don’t do herding.Do you? We do,or we’re going to do agility, and we’re going to try conformation again. It is true, in 200…7 I believe the jack russel terrier was the #1 biting dog. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof No…not every single last rottweiler is “vicious”...I’ve met…I think 4 that were sweet…BUT they could snap at any moment. They’re very unpredictable. I do not like the dog whisperer, either. His training techniques are weird…Victoria Stillwell is better in my opinion. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Also, if you wanna take a chance with them…go ahead…and I don’t care if I make enemies…I know I’m right.I’ve had experience with dogs of every size, shape, breed, etc…I’ve also studied the breeds…I know the date EVERY AKC recognized breed was recognized, for goodness sakes! And,yes I do have, not own(he’s not a thing)a german shepherd, a breed known for their protectiveness, not viciousness. You never hear about a gsd attacking his own OWNER!I’m sure there has been one, maybe, but no other dog is as unpredictable as the rottweiler. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Ok, so you’re telling me that ALL those dogs attacked because of the owner? What about the one where the dog attacked his own owner while the guy was WALKING him?Sounds like he was taken care of to me. I’m an extremely passionate person when it comes to dogs, and I am one to always say “it’s the human’s fault”—except with these dogs. They should not be kept as pets, but woking dogs. They’re happiest as workers, not pets! |
