Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Struvite Disease

YOU know your dog best...and if you are afraid to tell your vet what you are doing with the diet, maybe you should consider another vet. I was naive when I got my puppy last year. I went to the vet I used for my cat and long story short...got wise, tried 3 more vets until I found the one I use now. He cares about all the issues Soph has and works WITH me on her diet. He doesn't pretend to know anything he's not sure about. Keep in mind, most vets only take 1-3 nutrition courses. While it helps, you are in charge of what your dog is eating and after research will probably find something you can be happy with for him. GOOD LUCK!

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / Bullybreed Rescue Needs Help!

Update 5.31.08

Jr. Quigley will finally be going home today. Unfortunately, it will be to a different foster home, but with all the medical issues, we can't risk him and Sophyra being around to cross-contaminate each other. He has struggled hard this past week, but is strong enough and revitalized enough to go and try to survive without the constant fluids and IV meds.

Hi ~ you can check out Jr. Quigley on my page...today he went to the emergency vet. He has Parvo and we're doing everything we can to treat him. Unfortunately, as we all know, vets are expensive and the rescue pays for it all. If anyone can donate, I'll send you the link to the account as soon as I get it! Thanks in advance...we could use all the thoughts and prayers you have too.

Abi

Here's the link; it's in Jr.'s name...

Topic: General / Pet Psychic

I have to say...I haven't had any readings on my dog, but I used to get them on the horses frequently. Mainly on my Chantilly Lace, who has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Three different communicators had meetings with her and one did a seminar that really explained certain feelings and, for lack of a not-so-cliche word, enlightenments. While all the reading had different main topics, they all would come back to similar tones. And, the last time, the communicator wrote to us, but said not to open if for a month. Shortly after, Tili had to go to sleep for the last time. The communicator knew, but didn't want me to cry for the last month of Tili's life. It was in the letter, though. I completely agree that there are quacks, just like in doctors, teachers and every other profession. The real ones, though, are real. They have a gift, and if you're lucky enough to find one of the special few...keep they're words with you. I will never get rid of any of the notes from the readings, just like when I get read. That information may not mean anything for a long time...but it will come. Enjoy! And go back often! Ugh...I'm so lame ~ I'm sobbing my eyes out thinking about all of this!Cry

Topic: Fun / Where did you get your name?

Well, I came with the name and Mom loved it (not that it matters since I don't "listen" anywayWink)...but she looked into where it came from. First, it was Sopheara...ironic that "hear" was in it and Mom loves "y" in a name...so the spelling was changed before papers came. There was a family that originally was supposed to get her. They were friends of the breeder. She called after they were born and said they wanted their puppy named it. BUT it was supposed to be after a character in Aragon. Mom's never seen it, but apparently there was a friendly, fire-breathing, female dragon in it. We're thinking her name was probably "sulfura"~get it? Sulfur/fire...makes more sense. But after looking up Sopheara...its a Cambodian MALE name meaning beautiful and intelligent. The female version is Sopheary but Mom was already set on Sophyra...its much prettier, but the meaning was the same and it fits. Who knew one name would be such a long post? haha Oh, and Petey came with his name, and it totally fits. Good thing, he's 10 and it'd be really cruel to change it now!

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof

This is the MOST ridiculous post I've seen on this site!!!! Are you honestly saying, Emily, that every single rott in the world is BAD???? That's ignorance. I don't care if you have one of every other breed in the world! People like and dislike breeds for all kinds of crazy reasons, but anyone who would say they are all bad really needs a lesson in animal behavior. While you were busy memorizing all the dates of breed recognition, you could have looked up all the dates those breeds attacked humans too. THEY ARE ANIMALS!!!!! Yes, some have attitude from the start, but I would NEVER say ANY animal (including humans) are just bad because of some stupid google search. Are you kidding me??? I have a Great Dane and people are scared of their size...does that mean because they can take a human down in one pounce they are all bad? Certainly not! Maybe you could google a class for behavior. The horrible people turn these and the rest of the "bullies" bad, not nature! I can't believe you even have the spine to post on a dog site that ALL of a breed are bad. RIDICULOUS!
