Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Sad Warning YEs, toss the freshness packet right away. Also, be careful when mail order chicken jerkey. Some I ordered before looked and smelled very "plastic". When I was examing them Echo stole one piece. He has quite strong teeth but he got choked and cough out blood. I believe the texture of it was too hard to chew so he tried to just swallowed the whole piece instead. He was okay afterwards but it scared me to death. I'd rather pay a few bucks more in pet store but see the real meat texture myself. |

I want to adopt another dog (probably an Aussie or Aussie mix) so badly but cannot due to our circumstance. Supporting local rescue made me feel that at least I did little for the doggies who don't have a forever home yet........... |

Topic: Media / Dog Food, Animal Cruelty & Largest Beef Recall in US History Our local school district announced on TV that they "immediately threw away all those beef from the plant in S. CA" so "it does not affect school lunch program at all." However, it just reminds me the dogfood recall not long ago. We (and our dogs) are the ones that consume these food but not sure about the quality of the sources until something (bad) happen. I've gradually eliminated beef out of my and my dog's meals for a few years, and tried (!) to purchase only the local product where I know they come from. I admit they're pricy and I cannot afford them in a long run. But as MaryBlanquart said, I'm too leaning towards paying more to ensure the safety and humanly produced food. |
