Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Terrified of vet's If every time we went to the dentist, we had a tooth extracted or root canal, would YOU want to go? Not me!!!!
Does he ever go anywhere else in car, or only to vet?
Prior to annual visit, can you go to vet’s, for a quick visit, WHERE NOTHING happens to him, except he gets something realllly yummy? That might help desensitize him.
Also, do not feed the morning, of annual visit. When you get there, vet/tech has yummmmmy treat or cool toy. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Dwain ~ EXcelllent post (as usual, geesh ~ I am starting to feel like your groupie, BOL).
Emily, I referenced www.atts.org for you before. It seems smaller dogs BITE waaaaaaaaaaaaay more often (unprovoked) that larger…yes, I’d rather be bitten by a chi than a GSD …......... uh, yea, give me the chi.
But you are WAY off judging a dog by it’s breed ~ than it’s deed, background, training (or lack of), environment, stimulus, etc, etc. |

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof Emily ~ you need to understand how the media works. Juicy news “sells”, rotties are juicy. We have rotties in animal assisted therapy, and perhaps you should should check out the Carl series?! |

Topic: Pals / Friends in Need A dear aussie pal, Blue unexpectedly crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Aussie6Pk (here on MDS) is collecting barks to send to the family. Get a tissue, then read Rescued, but still Blue http://www.mydogspace.com/me/aussie6pk/blog/2008-05-10Rescued-But-Still-Blue
Annette will be printing out the barks. It will mean so much to the family to hear from dog lovers around the world (please list your country if outside USA). Thank you, in advance, tina |

Topic: General / rottweiler attacks and owners wont tie dog up Emily, judge the deed, not the breed. Visit www.atts.org You will see that those “evil” rotties are a scant one percent lower rated than your GSD! I know many rotties who are service dogs, k9 officers, and even therapy dogs – hardly sounds evil.
Last nite I evaluated a GORGEOUS aussie coming into rescue. Owners don’t understand why he is suddenly nipping their 2 and 4 y/o children ~ “because they’ve always ridden him like a horse, pulled his hair, and hit him”. Gee whiz, I wonder
AKCdog def has a problem : irresponsible neighbor. It’s the OWNER who is the problem, not the dog’s lack of socialization and care.

TherOn many, the html box was not visible. It seemed random, so please do not be offended, or feel left out!! I pasted it, anyway….hoping…..no luck. |

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / How Do You Treat Tail Chewing I spoke to Carla on Fri, as quickly as Zack’s booboo came, it also went away. He is on the same holistic food that my dogs are on. It sounded like a bug bite to me, that he was itching & irritated ;-) |

There’s a chasm of change between two and three dogs…...once you get over three, there is not a big difference, so you should be all set ;-) Congrats! He is precious. Mom to five, and a 3x FCF ;-P FCF = foster care failure |

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / spolied poodles wont eat What we serve our pets has long term effects on their health, well-being, energy level and life spans. I would not want to eat what you were serving, either!! You said it ~ Spoiled (they have you trained); you must be the pack leader. There’s tons of info here, in the forum, and in my blogs (Deadly Double Standards and What’s in the Bowl). |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / underground electric fences with collars FANtastic, post, Dwain ~ This is why it is great to be a member of a community like MDS, we can all learn so much from one another!
You more than made your case ;-) Many points you made also apply to Holly’s situation (HannahPriss) with the next door dogs.

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / 36 Yorkies Taken From Filthy Home The first eight were put up for adoption today. Over fifty people waited for their chance to meet and adopt at $67/dog.
These dogs are going to need a LOT of TLC, probably are not housetrained, and being inbred may have loads of health issues. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / underground electric fences with collars My sister had a dobe, he was so protective of my two nephews (human variety), he’d go right thru it, to “get the postman”!
One of my clients (hubby allergic to cats) used it IN her home, for her cats. Cats had upstairs, dogs had downstairs (bedrooms are down). Worked beautifully, and I thought I had seen it all!!
Before you buy, put the collar on your arm, KNOW what the shock feels like. Then if you can do the proper training with it (initially, it’s not to pleasant), it might be great. |

Topic: Puppies / Dog Parks San Diego Sally, while we all can appreciate your enthusiasm, what does a dog park listing, have to do with puppies?
FYI ~ dogs under 4 months should NOT be taken to dog parks, as they are not totally innoculated, yet. Please review the terms of use, for the site. |

Dogs’ mouths are like our hands, they will bite if provoked, to protect, or out of fear.
