I usually clean them out myself, I never let it get to bad, they sell wipes especially to do that and so it doesn't irritate the eye.. to me it's kind of like having an baby, if you don't do it, than who will? lol

Topic: Pals / German Shepherd Lover Here

I only said that I wondered if you would talk to me knowing I owned a pitbull mix because of what you first said in the forum:

"i would love friends that love anybreed of dog except for pitbulls"

"plz i would love to talk"

Those are your words not mine, so even if you meant it or not, you still said it.

Topic: General / Rottweilers are bad and here's proof

what is going on? why are people on this site now trying to prove that specific breeds are bad?... I told "wawatay" they took the prize on the stupidest forum topic on MDS, but this one is just as stupid.

And sadly (not trying to offend anyone) I wouldn't expect this from 2 "german shepherd lovers" If you claim that rotties are bad and shouldn't be pets, than whats the difference in owning a German Shepherd? Shepherds can be just as dangerous if taught the wrong way.

Any breed can be aggressive and attack, and I have actually heard more attack stories on shepherds than I have of Rotties.

Dogs depend on us to teach, train, feed, and provide love and shelter to them. They are what we make them.... you can only blame the owner for a dogs actions. you only know what is being said on the news or online but you don't know the true facts behind each story.

People should really think before they speak

Topic: Pals / German Shepherd Lover Here

This is by far the stupidest comment anyone can say on MDS you take the prize on that one "wawatay"...

I know i'm not going to change your opinion on the breed and maybe knowbody else here will, but you should have thought about what you were saying before you first posted on the forum. Were all dog lovers on this site and there's all different kinds of breeds and lovers of all these breeds. Just because you have an opinion on a breed doesn't mean you need to post it for all the world to see, especially a bad opinion on any breed. You only got the reaction that you deserved from everyone on this site.

I personaly own a pit-bull mix, and don't feel what you said was very smart about the breed. and I have talked to you before and you never mentioned to me your hate for the pitbull breed, but i'm starting to wonder if you would have talked to me if you knew I owned a pitbull mix?....

BSL (breed specific legislation) sets out to ban all sorts of breeds for very stupid reasons and it's full of people who think like you (they hate certain breeds of dogs) and I know you love german shepherds just like I do, and shepherds are very high on the BSL list aswell and this is only because of people who hate the whole breed because of a few stupid owners.

sound familiar?.... what one person does or say can go a long way

I would just suggets you keep those opinions to yourself.

Topic: Support And Suggestions / Battle for cuteness - feedback

Going with what this forum was posted for:

I feel it's really a neat idea, and maybe their should be different battles topics like puppies, breeds, sizes, etc. I think if it was more organized like that it would be easier to vote and not so random, but great job I really like it.

I agree that it's a lot more difficult to edit our profiles and add barks with pictures in them. most things that worked before don't work anymore. And it's so complicated I just give up on trying to make it work.

hey SableandChi, just letting you know that I just went on your profile and it all looks good and loads fast for me. I think this is why Robert says everything loads and looks okay because he's on a Mac (im guessing) and so am I. So their has to be something wrong.

Monty the answer to your question, yeah your profile load fine and fast for me. I don't know if it could be the pals, but everyones profile loads for me, I haven't come across a profile that wouldn't load.

I'm just having profile problems, like the music player, centering things, etc.

I don't know what's going on but I see everyones profile fine, and their loading quickly for me. ( I use a Mac ) so that might be why.

The only problem I'm having is the playlist is acting weird on my profile, I don't like the new way of editing your profile it's confusing and it doesn't work right for me.

Oh and centering doesn't work for me either, I'm so confused with all these "new things" that are being added, the "old way" was a lot easier and less confusing.

Topic: Fun / Where did you get your name?

....Rocko got his name from the cartoon "Rocko's modern life" I watched it all the time while growing up and I loved the name, and for some reason it really suits him. lol ....Mutsy got her name because my aunt suggested it when I first got her and I thought it was a really cute name and it fit her because she is a mutt lol ...Zasha got her name because my dad liked the name Sasha but he didn't want a common name for her, so I told him okay just say it with a "Z" and it's not common lol... he liked the idea and it just stayed that way.

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Bloat

Since I've always been a Dog fanatic, I buy books, watch shows, and research all the time on different diseases, sicknesses and just dog things in general. So one night I see Rocko running around the yard whining and apparently in A LOT of pain, I immediately grabbed him and touched his stomach, and it was hard and was HUGE, kind of looked like a pregnant dogs belly. The first thing that came to mind was he has a bloat, so we immediately rushed him to the nearest emergency vet (which was almost 20min away) It was horrible he couldn't get comfortable in any position and cried the whole way their.. when we got their the vet confirmed it was a bloat and that Rocko was already going into shock and had to go into surgery right away if not he would die. Of course we said yes do what you have to do to make him better, (that was a HUGE bill btw) The vet told us that we had gotten him in right on time any later he wouldn't have made it. He also said that whenever we feed him or any dog to wait 3 hours before letting them do any activity, if they drink a lot of water to not let them run around or jump, He also said that deep chested breeds such as the German Shepherd are the most common breeds to have bloats. This happend to Rocko a little before joining MDS, his stomach is stapled, but I'm always watching him after they eat and I wait the 3 hours before letting them out to play. Also Before the bloat Rocko had broken his feeding stand so he was being fed on the floor and I think this is what may have caused the bloat, because thats the only thing that changed from his feeding routine, but I don't really know what caused it. You just have to keep a constant eye on your dogs, and if you see them acting strange call the vet right away.

Topic: Media / Dog Food, Animal Cruelty & Largest Beef Recall in US History

Thanks "MotherSoze"! If it was cheaper I'm sure a lot more people would at least try to be vegetarian (but as I said money is all the Govt. cares about), I've been vegetarian for a little more than a year now, (after seeing a horrible video of the food industry), even smelling meat makes me sick... Thats awesome you went Vegan! I'm sure it must have been hard at first, I have a lot of Vegan and vegetarian friends, and trying to get my "meat eating" friends to go veg! lol... not only is it helping animals but you feel and are so much healthier. :D....... And you make a GREAT point "TinaValant"! :D

Topic: Media / Dog Food, Animal Cruelty & Largest Beef Recall in US History

As a vegetarian trying to go vegan (its harder than it looks, and only because its very costly) I get so angry when I see and hear about these things, its just not right to kill and torture these innocent animals for FOOD or any PRODUCT for that matter ... and a lot of people don't know what's really going on in these industries and laboratories (research and learn more on how almost any ordinary household product or the food you eat and what you drink was somehow made or tested by an innocent tortured animal), the abuse and the torture these animals go thru is sickening and just not right... ... I heard recently that in China and probably Japan too, that most stuffed animal fur is made of real Dog Fur, and I saw the horrible video of how they tortured these dogs and killed them for their fur, It made me cry and got me very angry, why do we do these things to animals?, we have alternatives and don't have to torture animals in this way, but it happens anyways because all we care about anymore is money........... If anyone is interested in learning more about this subject, or what products are NOT animal tested etc. go to Peta2.com the information they have on this site is very useful.

Topic: Support And Suggestions / Easy Walk Harness

Yea believe me I know, I have put them on harnesses to swim (because I dont let them swim off leash) and they have almost pulled me in numerous of times. But I was looking through a magazine and saw the "easy walk harness" its also made by gentle leader and it says it tightens to prevent pulling, its on this website: http://www.puplife.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/3880311/vpcsid/0/SFV/32255 I have tried so many times with the head halter, and wow how he pulls with that thing on his head!, its incredible to me his will power, and I guess I feel it even more when he pulls because I have back problems that cause my shoulder to hurt and weakens them, so when he jerks my shoulder its like a shock of pain, and I've tried everything because I love walking him at the park, and of course he needs his exercise, and I still haven't found something that works for him. I'm hoping someone who's tried the harness can tell me what they think about it. Thanks for sharing :)

Topic: Support And Suggestions / Easy Walk Harness

Just wanted to know if anyone has used an Easy Walk harness for their dog?, Rocko is a big time puller when he see's other dogs or animals, and he's no little dog so when he pulls it completely jerks my shoulder, it makes it really difficult to walk him. Oh and Ive tried the prong collar, a choke collar, a gentle leader, and overall training to get him to stop pulling when he sees something but he just gets fixated, and goes into attack mode and would rather choke than stop pulling. I'm hoping this harness would prevent choking and lets me have more control. So just wanted to get some feedback (any feedback) on this harness before buying it.
