Topic: Media / Victims of Foreclosure But just because you are having your home forclosed on doesn't mean that you have to give up your pets. We trying to sell our home to move into a cheaper apartment until I get done with school. We have had no problem finding an apartment that will let us keep our dogs. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Peeing on my bed She is being crate trained, but I am home alot being a stay at home mom. So when I am working on my laptop or doing school work on my bed, the dogs usually just lay beside me and sometimes lucky sleeps in the bed with us(it beats an electric blanket). They are allowed on the bed normally. The crates are in our bedroom...The only room in the house big enough for both crates and our back door is in our bedroom. what do you suggest? |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Peeing on my bed Okay if someone could offer some advice because this is new to me. Sunny has peed on my bed twice now. I keep it covered with spare blankets, to keep it clean, but its a pain. She has even pooped on the bed. She can be outside for an hour, I let her in and the minute she gets up on the bed she pees. I don't understand, and I have to find a way to get her to stop. Please any advice is appreciated. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / peeing on the floor...help! I hope that someone has an idea about this....We got lucky neutered this past week. Ever since he came home, he has pee accidents. Could one night at the vet really undo months of training. He was completely house trained. We used to crate him until we felt confident of his ability to not have accidents. He was not using the crate at all before getting neutered. Now I have to crate him when I leave so he doesn't pee on the floor. And when I am home, I have to watch him like a hawk to make sure he doesn't squat and pee somewhere! Any Ideas?? |

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / Bad rescue?!!! Well this isn't the first time she has kinda sent me an email like this. Everytime I ask if there are any upcomming opportunities she acts like I am bothering her. I did find a newly forming rescue who is more than happy to have me help with fundraisng, writing their newsletters etc. She also got snooty yesterday with someone who had five pit boxer mix puppies told the man she was not going to "enable him" its not the dogs fault, she didn't even give him other suggestions, the humane society or other rescue groups. |

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / Bad rescue?!!! Since adopting Lucky I have wanted to get involved in pit bull rescue. I contact a group and they said they would be glad to have me. However I sent them several emails and they wouldn't tell my of any opportunities to help, except fostering. So I sent an email asking questions about fostering since I am still new to rescue. Here is the response I got from the leader of the rescue group. Be prepared, caus it really made me angry. So, to answer your question, if you want to foster puppies, you would need to be prepared to vet them. I just cannot take on any more expense. After today at 5:30 p.m. (picking up Amie at Berclair) I will have two puppies to care for plus 8 adults,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and I constantly get a stream of calls and emails. I just received one for a 5 month old that needs a home. Same old story. Her female got pregnant and she found homes for two puppies but still has the one and must get rid of her "yesterday." I warn you - you will hate people after you start fostering dogs. You will see the darkest side of humanity that you can imagine. If I were you, I would sponsor and not foster - it will be MUCH cheaper in the long run. Sponsorship is a one time donation. Fostering is a long draw out process, ranging from one months to several months (for puppies) and 8-10-12 months fostering an adult. Sometimes I regret that I ever got involved. It is literally breaking me down physically and mentally dealing with so many dogs and I can help so few. It just bothers me that some one would offer to help and you give this kind of reply. Is it just me or is this somewhat wrong? I appreciate the info |

Topic: General / MICHAEL VICK SENTENCE FAIR?: “Animal cruelty” I think the whole thing is so unfair! As someone who is in pit bull rescue, it just breaks my heart. Did anyone see the episode of CSI recently about the dog fighting? It sad, but so true to life. It's so easy to ignore the problem, but by having a celeb/athlete commit the crime it brings it into people's focus, so if anything people are more aware of the dog fighting problem. As for Vick, I hope that he never plays football again! |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Anatomy Confusion and Pee My mother made some doggie diapers for a friend's dog who dribbles. they attached a womans sanitary pad to the diaper and it velcro's around the dog. IT was really neat if you are crafty and want the pattern I can get it from her and email it to you. Its much cheaper doing it that way than buying some |

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / Save a life! Rescue a dog! I sent a similar letter to our newspaper, because of the ads of this new "puppy store" Yes all they do is sell puppies which come from puppy mills. Where they can finance your puppy like a car. We love our rescue dog and are thinking about getting another. I just hope our letters make people realize that they need to adopt first. |

Topic: Rescues, Shelters And Adoptions / Dog for adoption Our vet is in need of finding a home for this little guy please email me if you are interested or knows someone who is, and I can get more information and put you incontact with my vet. Here is his info from petfinder and the link with his picture Teddy is a 5 year old male neutered Boston Terrier with paralysis of the rear limbs. He needs a home with lots of TLC. Teddy is a happy-go-lucky, active dog that just needs some extra help getting around. His weak rear legs don’t slow him down, just put him in his special cart and watch him fly. Teddy has some control of his rear legs but cannot walk. We give him hydrotherapy a few times a week to let him exercise his rear legs more easily. He loves bobbing around. He is down to one Bethanacol dose daily to help him urinate, and we hope to wean him off completely with time. Teddy does best on a schedule and knows basic commands. Teddy comes with his cart, a 15 month supply of Heartgard, a 6 month supply of Frontline, and an approximately 2 month supply of Bethanacol. Vaccinations are not due until January 2008. http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=9280612 as many of us know special needs dogs are hard to get adopted he is currently living with a foster family. |

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Help me get rid of lucky's mange As some of you may know, my rescue baby lucky has sarcoptic mange. My vet is treating it with some oral medications. Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions. Lucky is miserable being locked away from his new family (so my highly allergic kids dont get bitten by the sarcoptic mites) I would love to be able to socialize him with people and other animals as soon as possible. Please any idea's are welcome! |
