Topic: Puppies / adolecent small pup potty problem

It may have been the puppy pads that have him confused.  Since he was trained to go on the pads in the house when he was younger, he probably thinks that he's supposed to go in the house.
Whenever he makes a move towards the door, let him out.  He should eventually learn that when he goes to the door, he goes outside.  When you take him outside, do not let him back in the house until he does his business.  When he does, imediatly take him back inside and give him his treat.
Other than that, just pay super close attention to what he's doing and what he's sniffing.  I'd say space out the potty times a bit more.  That may teach him to hold it in.  If he's going out every half hour, he probably doesn't have to pee each time.  Try every hour or so instead.

Topic: Puppies / Nippy puppy

What I've always done is, as the dog tries to nip or bite, grab its muzzle shut and give it a firm "no," then ignore it for a few minutes until it calms down.  Sometimes the pup will bite its tongue, which is no fun for it.  Eventually they learn that biting and nipping results in a bitten tongue and an angry parent.
