I haven't heard anything about this and this is very, very important to me. I'm going to e-mail some candidates about this, but I doubt that I will get an e-mail back. Has anyone heard anything about any of this??

Topic: General / I really want to see what people think about this...

itsallmine... What I posted wasn't the whole story, but that is pretty much about it. The "pit bull" (I don't know if it was an APBT, an AmStaff or a Staffie. They just said "pit bull" which drives me nuts! lol!) is a "family" dog. It's owned by a husband and wife and lives in their home with their young child and other dog (Rotty). The person who posted this story said that it was her fathers goats that were killed, she said that the "pit bull" somehow got out of the house, wondered into her fathers yard and killed two of his goats. She said that her father (an older man) was standing outside by himself with nothing to protect himself from the "pit bull", the "pit bull" was standing a few feet from her father and never once even acted like it was going to attack. Her father called her and then she called two men that were working on her fathers house to go out and help him until she could get there and get animal services out there. When she finally got there the two construction workers and animal services were all there with her father and no one had any problems with the "pit bull", it was nothing but nice. No, what happened was not the dogs fault, it was the ignorant owners fault. I just posted this to see what people said about what some of those people had to say about the "pit bull" breeds. I agree with you, if people would just do a little research they would think differently about these amazing breeds. The "pit bull" breeds are three of the most stable, people-friendly breeds in existence, they are three of the only breeds that were bred specifically to be human friendly! In temperament testing APBTs test higher than most popular family breeds such as Goldens and Beagles. These breeds are smart, sweet, tolerant, devoted, loyal, determined, goofy.. just all around wonderful family companions! The thing that makes me so mad is that the people that said that stuff about "pit bulls" are people that have heard the truth about these breeds, they have read the facts, checked out the websites, etc and they still choose to hate "pit bulls". What people don't seem to understand is that all three of the "pit bull" breeds are terriers, they are very energetic and need a lot of exercise daily. They are working breeds and they need a "job", they need to be challenged. They are very smart breeds that tend to be dominate and can be very stubborn, they need an experienced owner that is educated on the breed(s) and is willing and able to properly raise, train and socialize them and keep them under control. They are also some of the strongest dogs, pound for pound. They are all three small to medium breeds, but they are solid muscle! These breeds are truly amazing, but they are not for most people! So many people get these dogs and don't do what needs to be done! A lot of people get them just to abuse them, neglect them, torture them and fight them, but at the same time, a lot of people get them for the right reasons, but just don't understand the breed and how to properly care for them. That is the problem. If people would just do some research before getting a certain breed to make sure that's a good breed for them, we wouldn't have the problems that we do (and if we didn't have all of the heartless morons that just get these dogs to make them mean). Anyway, like I said, I just wanted to see what people thought of those people's opinions. Again, these are people that know the truth, but still choose to hate these breeds. Oh, and thanks for the link. That is one of the many webistes that I have gotten a lot of info from. I have read over just about every "pit bull" website out there.. lol.. and I post the links as often as I can just to get the info out there.

It's just unbelievable to me how close-minded and ignorant people can be! I really don't think I will ever understand it! The responses I posted are from people that have been on that forum for as long as I have (about a year) and they have heard the truth and read the facts on these breeds (APBTs, AmStaffs and Staffies) many, many, many times! It's like they just need something to hate.

Okay, this is from a thread on a forum that I spend some time on. The original post was about a man that had two of his goats killed by a "pit bull". The "pit bull" didn't attack or even act like it was going to attack a person and there were many around, but because the dog killed two goats this is what people were saying... "I don't care about being popular, so I'll say it: I would love to see all pit bulls killed and the species extinct." "I agree. And, why would anyone have a pit bull and a couple of rottweilers in a house with a baby? Are they nuts? At least the wife finally had the sense to get rid of the pit bull. Hopefully we won't hear some horrible story about rottweilers attacking a child! What's wrong with people?" "Well I don't care about being popular either. I am a huge dog lover and animal lover for that matter but I have never heard a good story regarding pit bulls.... I'm sorry for your father's loss and I am also sorry that you have to read responses from the people who defend pit bulls. They are also the ones that end up bitten or worst whose families end up hurt." "Smoke....fire... does not take a genius to see there is a problem with the breed." By the way, this "pit bull" is owned by a couple that has a young child and two Rotties. This dog is obviously not human aggressive, it didn't attack any of the people that were around it right after the goats were killed, it hasn't attacked anyone! But, because the dog killed two goats, it's a man eating monster? How do you get man eating out of goat killing? I just don't understand some people! I have to quit going to sites like that one, I'm going to have a heart attack! I can't stand this crap!

Topic: Media / Dedicated to the 11 "pit bulls" named in Vick's indictment.. Please Watch!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to watch that! I'm glad that someone made a video in memory of those poor things! -FreedomKat.. As always, I agree with everything you said! lol! -pheonix3033.. I have seen that video! That's so cute! There is also a video of a "pit bull" dumping on a Vick jersey, a video of someone lighting a Vick jersey on fire and a few others that are funny! I have to say that the one I posted and the one you posted are by far my two favorites! -aviateress.. Thanks so much for your post! You know, that's one thing about this whole thing that has actually made me happy.. people that don't care for the "pit bull" breeds and even people that hate the "pit bull" breeds are upset about this because even thought these are breeds that they don't like, they are still dogs, living creatures that deserve love! I like all three of the "pit bull" breeds, but because I own three American Pit Bull Terriers I have to say they are my favorite! lol! All three are very similar in looks and personality though (obviously.. lol.. that's why they are all grouped as "pit bulls"), so I can't love APBTs like I do and not love American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers as well! All of this is just so, so, so sad! It breaks my heart! It's amazing to me how hated all of the "pit bull" breeds are today! The three "pit bull" breeds are three of the **ONLY** breeds that have been bred **specifically** to be amazingly human friendly. They are all family breeds. In temperament testing, APBTs always test higher than most popular family breeds such as Goldens and Beagles. APBTs are one of the most stable, people friendly breeds in existence! APBTs, one of the most abused, hated and feared breeds in the world today is an American hero that was once the quintessential icon of American family life.. They were even known as nanny dogs and nurse maids dogs! It's all just so sad! APBTs were the number one family breed in the US in the 20's, 40's, 50's and during the first part of the 20th century and now they are the most hated breed! It's unbelievable how much things can change in just a few years. I will never understand how or why someone would destroy three of the most amazing breeds like they have! :( Anyway, I need to stop now or I will just go on and on! lol! But thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to watch this video! :)

I'm sooo happy that he plead guilty! Maybe, just maybe, he will actually get some jail time! In my opinion, there is no way that he will get what he really deserves, at least not while he's still on earth anyway, but jail time is pretty good! :) I hope that his football career will be over! I seriously doubt that will happen, but I think that would hurt him a lot more than jail would! http://www.abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=3489424&page=1

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Another Recall

Tina.. I agree! It's wonderful that so many people are really starting to read labels and be more careful about what they feed their fur babies! We use to feed Brooklyn Beneful, that was before we had Destiny and Jayda, and then shortly after we got Destiny, we decided that we needed to start feeding them a better food, so we started to feed them Iams. I thought that Iams was a great good, that's what the commercials make it look like anyway! lol! Then I came across some interesting info online about dog food being made with dogs, cats and zoo animals that died or were put to sleep! It said that they don't bother to take the collars and tags or flea collars off of the animals first, and they don't even take them out of the plastic bags that they were thrown in! Now, I'm not sure if I completely believe all of that, but that definitely made me start doing some serious research on what our babies were eating! Now we feed them Natural Balance duck and potato dry formula. I know that it's not the absolute best thing out there for them, but that's the food that they do the best on and it's definitely a good quality food! We are doing some research right now on home made diets and raw diets for our dogs. I'm not sure if I want to switched them to a diet like that or not yet, but I'm looking into it. After doing all of the research we did, now any time someone asks about dog foods or anything like that we always tell them to do some serious research and don't buy any food that they sell at the grocery store! Grocery stores are for people, not pets! lol! Oh, we also used this kibble rating chart that someone suggested we use. I thought it was really interesting! This is the kibble rating chart... You will need your kibble's list of ingredients, as found on the bag (or oftentimes their website). Please note, however, this is for ingredients ONLY.... so before feeding a pup be sure to look at the protein and fat and calcium and calories in the Guaranteed Analysis. Start with a grade of 100: For every listing of "by-product", subtract 15 points For every non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or fat) reference, subtract 10 points If there are no specific meats or meat meals, subtract 25 points For every grain "mill run" or non-specific grain source, or grain "middlings", subtract 10 points If the food contains BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, subtract 15 points If the same grain ingredient is used 2 or more times in the first five ingredients (i.e. "ground brown rice", "brewer’s rice", "rice flour" are all the same grain), subtract 5 points for each occurrence If the protein sources are not (specific) meat meal and there are less than 2 meats in the top 3 ingredients, subtract 3 points If it contains any artificial colorants, subtract 5 points If it contains ground corn or whole grain corn, subtract 3 points (subtract 5 if corn is listed in the top 5 ingredients) If the food contains any animal fat other than fish oil, subtract 3 points If lamb is the only animal protein source (unless your dog is allergic to other protein sources), subtract 2 points If it contains soy or soybeans, subtract 5 points If it contains wheat (unless you know that your dog isn’t allergic to wheat), subtract 2 points If it contains beef (unless you know that your dog isn’t allergic to beef), subtract 1 point If it contains salt, subtract 3 points If it contains corn syrup, molasses, or other added sweetener, subtract 10 points Extra Credit: For every different specific animal protein source (other than the first one; count "chicken" and "chicken meal" as only one protein source, but "chicken" and "turkey" as 2 different sources - do not count egg, cheese, or other similar ingredients), add 1 point If the food contains 3 or less different mentions of grains (or other high-carb plant-based foods like potatoes), add 5 points If any of the meat sources are organic, add 5 points (if the number 1 ingredient is organic meat, add 10 points) If the animal sources are hormone-free and antibiotic-free, add 3 points If the food is baked not extruded, add 5 points If the food contains probiotics, add 3 points If the food contains fruit or vegetables (NOT corn or other grains), add 3 points If the vegetables have been tested for pesticides and are pesticide-free, add 1 point If the food contains barley or oats or oatmeal, add 1 point If it contains sunflower, hemp, flaxseed, or other polyunsaturated vegetable oils, add 3 points (add 5 if it is the #1 fat) If the vitamin and mineral sources are chelated, add 5 points 94-100+ = A 86-93 = B 78-85 = C 70-77 = D <70 = F Food Grade Results A's Score A+ Chicken Soup for the pet lovers soul 113 A+ Eagle Pack Holistic chicken 114 A+ Eagle Pack Holistic LG and Giant Breed Adlt 113 A+ Eagle Pack Natural 104 A+ Timberwolf Organics Lamb and Venison 136 A+ Solid Gold Bison 123 A+ Solid Gold Wolf King 109 A+ Solid Gold Hund N flocken 105 A+ Solid Gold Mmillennia 111 A+ Innova 117 A+ Natural Balance Duck and Potato 114 * this is what we are feeding our pups* A+ Canidae 119 A+ Foundations Chicken and Vegetable 109 A+ Flint River Ranch Fish and Chips 109 A+ Wysong Synorgon 110 A+ Flint River Ranch Lamb, Millet and Rice 117 A+ Back to Basics 107 B's B Eukanuba Natural Lamb and Rice 87 C's C Nutro Lamb and Rice 85 D's D Iams Lamb and Rice 74 F's F Pedigree Adult Complete 14 F Ol'Roy 9 F Science Diet Chicken Adult Maintainance 45 F Purina Beniful original 23 All Purina and Pro Plan foods rate as a F F Pro Plan Giant Breed Adult 41 F Pro Plan Performance 53 F Pro Plan Chicken and Rice F Purina Dog chow F Purina Large Breed 40 F Diamond Lamb and Rice 61 F Diamond Performance (formerly professional) F Diamond Large Breed 55 I know that's really long! One of our girls was just spayed as well, I know how stressful it is! lol! I posted some questions about all of this before I took her to the vet and I got a lot of great advice! You should check out that thread. Oh, it also says some stuff about Rimadyl, that's what our vet gave Desy, she had 7 of them and we were told to give her 1/2 of a pill twice a day as needed for pain. Anyway, like I said, you should read over the thread that I posted about getting my little girl spayed, it might be helpful! Good luck! : )

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / My babies are getting fixed.. any suggestions?

Just wanted to let everyone know that Desy was out of the vet Wednesday and she is doing great! : ) She really hasn't even tried to mess with her stitches! She tried to lick them a few times, but all I had to do was say her name and she stopped, she really doesn't seem to care that they are there.. thank God! lol! She has been home for a few days now and she is doing wonderful! The stitches are all still intact and her incision looks like it's starting to scab up some now. I have been keeping a very close eye on her since she came home, but I am going to stay right on top of her now! I know that it will start to itch and bother her a little more as it heals up and we don't want to make an emergency trip to the vet! FreedomKat.. I couldn't imagine having to go through all of that! I don't know what I would do! The absolute worst thing we have gone through with our babies was with Destiny the day we got her. We got Desy and we were told that she was 8 weeks old and happy and healthy! We noticed she wasn't acting normal at all, she was throwing up, she wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink and wouldn't stop crying so, we took her to the vet that same day. After they checked her out they told us that she had really, really bad fleas, almost every worm in the book, she was severely dehydrated and her red blood cell count was dangerously low! Oh and to top it off, they told us that there was no was she was 8 weeks old, they said she was maybe 5 or 6 weeks! They told us that they really couldn't tell us if she would live or not and they said we would have to leave her there for a couple days so that she could be treated for the fleas and worms, get meds and fluids through and IV and get a blood transfusion! I don't think I have ever been that upset in my life! Anyway, after 2 days they told us that we could take her home, but if we did we would have to make sure she got all of her meds on time, we had to feed her every 3-4 hours and we couldn't take her outside or have her around any other dogs besides Brooklyn (we didn't have Jayda yet). They said we could leave her there and pick her up when she was better if we wanted to, but we decided that we wanted to take care of her. Let me tell you, that was an adventure! lol! Oh, all of that was on a Sunday so, we had to take her to an emergency vet. When all was said and done we ended up paying about $1,500 or so, but we were told several times that we wouldn't have had to pay that much if we would have taken her to our regular vet. It doesn't matter though, Desy is happy and healthy now so, it was all worth it! Anyway, I was a mess that whole time and she was only at the vet for 2 days! I couldn't even imagine going through what all you went through! : ( That's one of the reasons that I worry sooooo much about Desy though, I freak out and rush our babies to the vet over anything, but I get more worked up over Desy because we have already almost lost her, you know.

AwWwWw! Abby sounds like she was an amazing girl! I'm sorry for your loss! : ( My Brooklyn sounds a lot like your Abby! Brooklyn was our first and oldest APBT, we got him when he was 8 weeks old and he is over a year now and Brooklyn is also our only male APBT. We never took him to any classes, professional trainers or anything like that and we haven't even really had to train him! He just seems to understand what I say to him and he just knows what to do. I catch myself talking to him as if he is a person sometimes! lol! It sounds a little crazy, but I have trouble remembering that he is a dog sometimes! He is just so smart, laid back, goofy and human like! Our girls are very smart, goofy and human like at times as well, but Brooklyn is truly a unique dog!

Topic: Media / "Pit bull" killed in Palm Coast! : (

Tezza.. That's horrible! I just don't understand some people! I can't even kill a bug, I don't see how people can hurt these poor animals! : ( Redgingerkisses.. We think we had the same thing happen to us! We currently own three American Pit Bull Terriers, but when we first moved into the house we are in now, we only had one. We had our male, Brooklyn who is now over a year old, but when we moved in he was just a puppy! Anyway, we use to walk him around the block a few times everyday, we would go down our driveway, go left down the street, turn right and walk down the street that goes behind our house. After a while Brooklyn started to get sick, he was throwing up and had the runs so, we took him to the vet. The vet told us that he must have eaten something that didn't agree with him, after a few days it went away and he was back to normal. Then a few days later he started getting sick again! I remembered that I had seen a story on the news about people putting little pieces of food with some kind of poisoning in them, in their yards so if an animal came in their yard they would eat it and get sick. So, we decided to start walking him around a different block. We started to go left out of our driveway and then turn left to go down the street that was in the front of our house and one street over and after a while Brooklyn was fine! We now walk all three of our dogs that same way still and we haven't had a problem since then! Our neighbors have three dogs as well and they had the same problem! They now walk their dogs the same way we do and they haven't had any problems either! We never saw our dogs eat anything, but they niff around and pick up leaves and sticks so, we think maybe Brooklyn ate something and we didn't notice. Now anytime any of our dogs pick something up we stop and take it from them. It's sad that we have to worry about our dogs while we are with them walking the in our own neighborhood! What bothers me is that MOST "pit bulls" (American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers) are absolute sweet hearts, but no one ever gives them a chance because of the few heartless morons that get these breeds to abuse and torture them! When our neighbors first move in they were so scared of our dogs because they had heard we owned three "pit bulls". They have a 2 year old son and a 3 year old daughter so they were scared for their children. The second they met us and our dogs they completely changed their minds about "pit bulls"! They love our dogs and our dogs love them! In fact, anyone that has really taken the time to get to know us and our dogs have changed their minds about "pit bulls"! I'm not saying that they all love "pit bulls" now, but they at least know that they aren't born mean. Our neighbors are looking to adopt a "pit bull" puppy now! Because I have never owned the other two "pit bull" breeds I don't know too much about them, but like I said, we own three APBTs and they are one of the most stable, people-friendly breeds in existence and that's a fact. In temperament testing they always test way above most popular family breeds such as Goldens and Beagles and they are one of the best breeds to have around children. "Pit Bulls" are currently used and suitable for all types of service work including drug detection, emergency rescue, service and therapy work, military service, and much more. The American Pit Bull Terrier is additionally one of the most intelligent and easy to train breed of dogs. The trainer of the show dog Lassie has even remarked on how the APBT is his choice of breed for training. These dogs are amazing dogs that have just happened to attract the wrong people and because of that they have gotten a horrible name! In Palm Coast we have a bunch of little canals all over the place and I also heard that last year they found 10 "pit bulls" cut up and thrown in a canal in Palm Coast! These weren't fighting dogs or strays, these were peoples family pets! Good, sweet dogs that lived in homes with children! Obviously someone here has a HUGE problem with these breeds and they are disturbed and heartless enough to go take peoples friendly, loving family pets and butcher them! I told someone about all of this and they told me that what that person did was a good thing and it needed to be done! They told me that someone is obviously concerned for those families so, they saved them from their pets!?!?! I didn't even know what to say to that! I don't understand some people! I can't even fit that in my head! How can normal people think like that?? People male me sick! : (

Thanks, that means a lot! I am really scared living here now! Our dogs are never anywhere without us though so, HOPEFULLY our babies are safe! I just can't wait to get out of here! There are crazy people like that every where though, you know? This world is suck a sick, scary place! I hate it! : (
