Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / The truth about Cats and Dogs i see that you care rinzou, but please don't say that those of us that do crate are cruel to our babies. i do it to keep them from getting into things they shouldn't when i am not there or for them to have a short time out when they misbehave. (you send your kids to the room when they are misbehaving, so what is the difference?) i would treat my real kids the same way that i treat my fur kids. (unfortunately i almost had a real kid but god had different plans). my dogs are my kids and i think those of us here do feel that way. weather we have both cats and dogs or not. back to the origional topic....mine took a good month to get used to each other and now they sleep together. it will take time to be sure. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / The truth about Cats and Dogs yes i did say that, but that happens rarely and we only keep him in there maybe 10 minutes at max. we have all of the crates open now and they go in freely and leave freely. you don't know my family or how i handle my babies outside of "confined time" so please just stop trying to judge my methods of punishment or even how i keep my babies safe when i am not there. why do i think that you are only trying to create a heated debate?? i don't have time for this all day. and besides it gets tiresome. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / The truth about Cats and Dogs we do crate the cat sometimes when its the cat that gets out of hand. overall they all get along but they just get too rough, like children do. crating is not cruel. i know many many many people who do it. my dogs and my cat are the only children i have been blessed with so far. my dogs have been raised going into their crates. its not cruel unless you leave them there all day. if you notice in one of my posts i said "i put reese in his pen in the bedroom", not crate until you mentioned it. pen is a much bigger open space than just his crate. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / The truth about Cats and Dogs rinzou, crating is not a bad thing. dogs are den animals. when they want some time out or time to be by themselves they crawl in their crate and sleep or just lay down. we have another dog that reese plays with. if it can work out, no one should get rid of any animal. why would i want to do such a thing. we had the cat first and we all love him very much. he has his "escape" places. frankly, i don't see the need to get rid of the cat, nor anyone else here. |

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / The truth about Cats and Dogs speaking of cats and dogs, mine are "playing chase" reese has a couple of "battle wounds". he is rough with harley, but the cat has high places to go and has very sharp weapons. i keep and eye on them when they get rough and when i am gone i put reese in his pen in the bedroom, close the door, and let the cat be in the rest of the house. it works well for us. |

Topic: General / help name our new pup! ooh i didn't think of winston oooo or how about wilson??? LOL! jk (just thought of the volley ball) heath was on our list. (recently) my boss suggested a beer name (german) because of the dachsie being german. we get him in about 3 weeks and wanted to go ahead and have his tag.... but i can't decide on a name..... i wanted to keep the candy names going because that is what i thought our kennel tradition would be.....but then i liked the idea of the little rascals theme..... idk..... that is why i asked all of you all for what you liked.......thanks for the suggestions...and keep them going! |
