My family saved me (Houdini) from a breeder, who was starving me; I was extremely ill. If my family had not have adopted me when they did, I would have died within a week. My growth was stunted when i was a puppy, and I was extremely small, even at 4 months, weighing 5 lbs. Over time I have grown, and now am much bigger than a normal samoyed. I look like a white wolf, and have the traits of a wolf, but I am very loving. I have actually learned to talk saying words such as: "Hello, How are you?, I love you, get down, out," and "mama". I am adorable, and love to snuggle up on anyones lap, forgetting that I am as big as they are. I can be jealous though, and I will whine and make weird moaning noises- I get really upset when I catch a family member kissing or hugging Daisy; the family Husky who is a few days older than i am.

Hi Houdini, thank you for being my friend! I hope it's not too hot where you are. We're up on Lake Superior, but it's still pretty warm.
Fortunately, my mom got me an air conditioner last summer, and I finally got her trained...I bring her the remote, and she makes it cooler. I have been trying to write to the manufacturer, pointing out the huge number of dogs who would appreciate a remote control unit that does not need thumbs to operate.
Meanwhile, I guess a handy human is the next best thing!

Hey Houdini, I was a rescue samoyed too, and when I got to my mom's house I weighed just 26 pounds! My dad didn't think I was going to make it, but he didn't tell my mom, who put me on a weight gain diet.
She knew I'd gained enough weight when I started licking the bacon fat off the kibbles and spitting them out. By then I was up to 45 pounds, where I've been for more than 10 years.
There's great variance in samoyed size, which is why the breed standard just says "proportionate". One of my adoptive brothers back in Florida weighed more than 90 pounds...like a 6'6' human!
Anyway, happy birthday yesterday and a great big "ARRROOOO!"
