Goodbye
My childhood friend went to the rainbow bridge today. She was at home with my mom surrounded by the things she knew and loved. I wish I could have been home to say goodbye and tell her what she meant to me. I am heartened by the fact that at least she is no longer in pain and she is young again fast enough to keep up with us on our bikes and I know that somewhere she is watching over me. I will miss her and home wont be the same without her. I will miss you Bridgey girl behave untill I get there and then we can be bad together. I love you!
New House
YAY!!! We got the house we were looking at and the best part of the whole deal is the 1/2 acre of back yard the girls will have to play in! The next step might be getting 1 or 2 more dogs and having a true pack. Im thinking of finding a less common dog like an Ibizan Hound or a Spinone Italiano. From their AKC standard they sound like they would mesh well with the girls. Hubs on the other hand wants an Irish Wolfhound, keep in mind he's going on deployment for 15 months and would be leaving the care and training of a dog that gets up to 100+ lbs all to me. But we'll see Im just excited I can now just let the girls out to run around instead of having to drive all the way to the dog park.
Cortana's Facts
Well since Em and I both have a list up Cortana felt like sharing somethings too!
Cortana would like everyone to know that:
1. She loves to play tug o war with Emily and usually she does a pretty good job of hanging on.
2. The water in her dish usually ends up all over the floor because she digs in it.
3. Emilys food tastes better and she tries to eat it before her food.
4. My ponytail/bun is an excellent chew toy
5. She is the biggest dog on the block... in her own mind
6. She is no longer afraid of cars or riding in them, see how she ended up with me and this is a pretty big accomplishment
7. Her head fits in my boot
Walk With Me

Do you walk, every day; how far & where?
Emily goes for a 20 minute run with me after I get off work then after dinner Emily Cortana and I go for a walk down to the pond and back, it takes us about 25-30 depending on Cortana
What do you use?
when we run Emily wears a regular harness and 5' lead on the walks Emily wears her regular collar with tags, a GL and has a 6' lead, Cortana wears a flat buckle collar with tags and a 5' lead
What wildlife do you usually see on your walk?
Ducks, other birds, assorted squirrels, and we saw a doe and fawn once.
Who do you usually see on your walk?
Nobody we really know, but we see alot of kids and other people walking their dogs
Does your parent(s) always pick up?
Everytime with out fail!
What other things do you experience on your walk?
Cars driving by, kids at the park playing, mist off the fountain in the pond, after it rains lots of mud puddles and muddy paws, Cortana pausing to check under every bush and Emily oblivious to everything but the ground in front of her.

Hi all
Please welcome the newest addition to the family, Cortana. She is a 3 mo old shepard mix and she is a sweet little girl. She was dumped out of a car while I was taking Em for her nightly walk. So now there's more than one kind of dog fur on my tshirt.

Im pretty upset this morning. I was on CL last night looking for someone selling dress whites and out of curiosity I clicked on ads for pets and right at the top was a lady in jacksonville giving away a 4mo old lab mix puppy that she and her husband had found, so I emailed her saying that I would like to know more info about him, she emailed me back and said he was an unneutered male and that just to cover the cost of food could I please give them $20, ok no big deal I said yes considering thats prolly what i would have spent on food anyway. Well I was all excited last night thinking about names and where he would sleep and talking to Emily (yes I talk to her) saying that she was going to be getting a little brother. So this morning I get up to check my email and the letter says "Im sorry, my husband already gave him away to someone at his work." So Im sad this morning, but on the bright side at least the puppy got adopted.

Hi again,
Remember when I said I liked NC... well Ive changed my mind. Its really really cold up here and there's nowhere for me to go. No dog park, no dog bakeries, no dog friendly stores or resturants. Theres a petsmart but there isn't anyone there that wants to play with me. Ive made two new friends Kulo a 3 month old Min Pin and Keilai a 2 month old Toy Fox Terrier but they are much smaller than me so Im not allowed to rough house with them like I can with friends my own size. So mostly Im stuck walking with mom or playing fetch in the house. I have been to the beach once and it was fun except I had to stay on my leash which hindered my progress into the ocean. Mom didnt want to get wet. Anyways I went to the vet on Saturday (mom finally found someone she was comfortable with) and got some blood taken for my HW test and my rabies titer, it wasnt so bad, I yelped a little bit but I was mostly good. I also got more xrays and the vet said hopefully by the middle of '09 Ill be able to have my hip replacement surgery. Just as soon as I finish growing!! He also said I was just all around healthy Im 66lbs now!! Anyway like I said Im bored here in Jax and I want to go back to FL. So does mom!!

The Emily Monster is Back!!!
Hi everybody
Im back to being a regular on MDS after a hiatus. Mom went away to school for a while and took away my computer access. I still did alot of things while she was away though. Dad took me to the dog park alot and we even got to go to the beach a few times. Anyway mom's back now and Ive moved, I went from Jax FL to Jax NC. Its really different up here. First I have a totally new place to live in, its on the second floor but they really like dogs here. Second its colder up here than in FL... I dont really know how I feel about that yet. (mom hates it) Third the beach is closer but there are no dog parks close by that we know of (if anyone knows of any please email me). Lastly Ive only made one new friend so far and hes a little guy so I cant rough house with him like I used to with Rebel. (i need friends so message me if you'd like to have a play date) Lets see... Oh yea the move up here was pretty hectic, I had to ride in a vehilce for 8hrs x4, in my kennel no less... oh sure we stopped lots of times but mom would not let me off the leash to run around... we had to run together and shes slow!!!!! My holidays were good, i got a big pack of greenies and stuffed santa which i disembowled in 5 minutes. New Years was nice, we went to the beach and I got to play in the surf for a few minutes... AlthoughI couldnt go swimming. Anyway Im missed you all while I was away and Im gonna be more active on here now.

Dogtoberfest
Well today was Dogtoberfest at the dog park. Dogtoberfest is a fundraiser for our local no cost spay/neuter program. Something dear to my heart considering they spayed Emily for a reduced cost. Anyways here's Em's take on the whole day
We went to the dog park today only it was really busy... there were lots of dogs there but I was kinda confused cuz usually mom lets me off the leash and i can run full bore to the lake... not today though. today she kept me on the leash. Anyway there were lots and lots of new things to walk around and sniff. However some of the dogs were a little hard to get to know cuz they were wearing costumes. I didnt wear a costume cuz i ate mine... mom was taking pics and i decided that i didnt like it and ripped it off... yea mom was mad!! Anyways there was a trick or treat walk and i got lots of goodies!!! and lots of people called me cute and petted me... and then we got to the lake... YAY!! I went in... and dragged dad in with me... hehehe... well I had fun... then we got to go over to where I got to play off leash and I met my friend Katie... Katie is a doberman with 3 legs... she got hit by a car... anyway we played and I played with a bunch of other doggies. it was fun... I also met another puppy who looked like me... she was little though so we didn't play real rough. After that I was really tired so mom took me home. I had tons of fun.
Well I gotta go.
