Potty Training Tips for old and new doggies from my Mommy...

Hi, this is Saint, Chewie, and Rascals Mommy. My name is Lisa. I discovered years ago with my beautiful black lab Bailey (R.I.P.), that I needed a way to potty train him that was easy for everyone. And I heard from a friend of mine that if you hang a bell on a string off of the doorknob to the outside area where they will be going potty and you take their paw and show them how to ring the bell then take them outside to do their deed. After they are done praise them however you do. It doesn’t take long before they are ringing the bell themselves to go outside. Bailey had maybe two accidents in the house before he was ringing the bell like crazy to either go out to pee or just to get praised but shortly he only rang it when he had to go to the bathroom. My Mother had older dogs at the time and she still trained them the same way to go out and they learned just as fast. To this day all my boys know to ring the bell to go out!!! It is a blessing!

Walk with me...

Do you walk everyday?   Now that it is warmer outside fianlly we try to walk as much as we can with the little ones in the wagon behind us. In the summer we go to the dog park! That is our favorite place!

What do you use?   we just use regualar leashes on the big guys and a retractable on the little guy so that he can keep up with the big boys.

Who do you see?     we see alot of things, other dogs, people that want to pet us, trees, and scary cars, Mommy keeps us as far away from them as possible.

Does Mommy always pick up?    Yes of course that is the right thing to do, would you want to walk in that? YUK!!!

What other things do you see on your experience?     We see alot of trees and fire hydrants to pee all over! YEAH!

my loss

a few years ago I had a black lab named Bailey he was my first son, I adored him he was my life. One night when I was taking him out to go do his thing he got off of his leash and I witnessed him get hit by a drunk driver. I ran into oncoming traffic to get him and the woman behind the man that hit him stopped to help me. We tried with all our strength to lift him into her car but I was so distraught that I couldn’t do it, then out of nowhere a car full of College boys stopped to help and one of them took his coat off and put Bailey on it and put him into the womans car. She drove me to the emergency vet and they told me that he had severe brain damage and that they could keep him alive but he wouldn’t be able to function. He was only 1 so I felt that it wasn’t fair to him to live that way so I had to let him go. They had to pick me up off of the floor and take me home. A few days later a friend of mine was picking me up from work at a daycare, he had his coat in the passenger seat and I asked him to move it and he told me to so when I did I picked it up and there was this adorable face staring back at me, I screamed so loud that the girls that I worked with came running out to check on me. By then I was crying hysterically, right then I knew that his name was going to be Saint because he was was my saint and savor for the loss that I was still feeling for my first four legged son. And that is how Saint became my Big Boy, he will always be my angel no matter what! And not a day goes by that I don’t think about my Bailey…Innocent
