Been on raw for 2 weeks now

We finally got started on the raw diet about two weeks ago. Maya was starting to get sensitive to her kibble again and I gave up! The kibble got dumped and I threw down a hunk of chicken. Maya absolutely loved it!! She was really confused at first. She kept licking it and then she didn't know what to do with it. But eventually she gave in and chowed. I'm already seeing big changes. She doesn't smell. Well I take that back she does smell, GOOD. lol. I gave her a bath right after switching her(because shes blowing her coat). Usually within a day after her bath she smells like dog again. She doesn't smell like dog anymore! She actually still smells like her conditioner which is coconut scented, it's awesome! lol. The yellow spots on her back teeth are starting to chip off, and her breath doesn't smell bad anymore. She also doesn't look malnourished anymore, lol. She has this habit of being extremely skinny. She is still just as skinny but she's packed on enough muscle for me to stop thinking she's wasting away to nothing! I am SOOOO happy about this change. No more trying to figure out which kibble company to trust, just gotta look for meat sales. I already found a local farmer who will sell me cull sheep for $50 (60-70 lbs)! Things are going GOOD. :D

Update on Raw

I decided I'm going to give Maya full raw instead of half and half. We are currently waiting for the kibble to get eaten up because we're not going to waste $40 worth of kibble. After that we will be starting. I've already found some great chicken sales. Changed my mind about the turkey, chicken is easiest to find. So I bought a whole bunch of whole fryers( .69 a lb) at the grocery store and cut them up, they had a surprisingly large amount of meat on them. Now I'm still on my search for other organs besides liver, because I've got plenty of liver now. I even found some beef for cheap...I mean it was still like $2 a lb, but that's the cheapest I've found anything beef in months. I bought two large chuck roasts and some ground beef that was only $1 a lb because the date on it was today. Anywho, now I've got everything portioned out for the first month. Now I just get to do the waiting game, and so far I hate that game. No fun at all, can't wait to start feeding raw! 

Starting a RAW diet soon!

Mommy says she's putting me on a raw diet soon!! I'm so excited I LOVE RMBS!!! She says I will be eating kibble in the morning and raw at night or vice versa. Because she's not ready to go full blown raw. I am though!!! She says I will be getting turkey, yum yum!! But she's having a hard time finding any good organ, sad sad.

I get really excited and run to the door because only friends ever come through that door!! Do you sleep on your owner’s bed at nightime? daddy says no but mommy wishes I could, though she admits I will probably be too big to when I am full grown! Are you mischievous? Very!! If I want something off of the coffee table or a tissue sitting next to someone, I will bring them my toy and distract them then steal the tissue. Also when daddy tells me I have to leave the cat alone I will pick up a toy and bring it to the cat the sneak in a little play while he's not looking, but usually they catch me and I have to go to my bed and lay down! :( Would Cesar Milan be proud of your owner or would have a few things to say? He would tell mommy not to get frustrated with me, sometimes she yells but I know she doesn't mean it, and it's only in the morning when she is trying to sleep and I won't be quiet! Do you have a best friend to play with? Elbe!! And Teddy! They don't live with me but I'm always so happy to see them. I have a sister, kitty. She's a cat, and my favorite thing to play with!! Do you get excited and jump around when your parent(s) arrive home or do you remain calm and cool? I rush out of the kennel after mommy lets me out and I run around howling!! Does your Mom (or Dad) leave the tv or radio on when they have to leave you at home alone? No, I don't really like it, it makes me feel more whiny! I'd rather just hear the sounds of the house like the clock and the trains going by behind. Do you like other dogs besides your pals? I like all dogs as long as they aren't behind a fence barking ferociously at me!! I'm very submissive to bigger dogs and dominant with smaller ones. Do you like cats? Yep!! My sisters a cat!! What is your most unique habit/characteristic? I make very funny noises, somewhere in between a howl and a bark! Mommy says I'm really smart too. What is your favorite thing to do with your Mom or Dad? Go for walks at the park or play tug o war! What proves that you are the alpha in your house (that you have Mom/Dad wrapped around your paw)? Nothing, I actually don't get away with anything. Though mom does make me homemade mix with my kibble and I LOVE it!!

They think I'm part wolf?

So mom e-mailed this lady contact of hers about me, and sent her a link to a photoalbum of me.The lady believes that I am mid to low content wolf though I also could just be a very wolflike shepherd mix. Mom says I act like a wolf. I mouth and howl a lot, though malamutes howl a lot too. She also says if I have shepherd in me she doesn't think I have a whole lot because  I rarely bark and every shepherd she ever met barks A LOT. Even when I do bark she says it doesn't sound normal, too airy. I guess there is no way to tell for sure right now so we will just have to wait. They have DNA tests for dog breeds, do they have them for different types of wolves. We could do the dog breed dna anyways just to see if I'm missing a chuck of percentage in breeds. Like say for example 50% malamute, 25% german shepherd, and 25% unknown. When you take your dog in for these they can do just about every breed, and they at least get all the breeds of dogs that live here that I could be. So if there is an unknown percentage it is probably wolf.

22 inches!!!!!!

Mom measured me again today and she says I'm 22" ALREADY!! She is amazed. She says she has never seen a puppy grow like I am! She says I grew 2 inches this week. Just thought I'd let you pups know! How big do you think I will get!?!?!

Introduction!!

Hi my name is Maya. I figured I should write a blog and introduce myself. I am turning 5 months old on monday. I am 43 lbs and 21.3 inches at the shoulders! Mommy says I'm growing like crazy. At 3 months I was only 33.3 lbs and 18 inches tall. And two weeks ago I was only 19 inches. I love to play with other pups and just be crazy! I also love playing with Kitty. You can watch the videos I posted to see me trying to get the cat through the curtains! I'm currently afraid of people and children outside of the house, but I calm down if they approach me correctly. I'm very submissive to bigger dogs and a pain in the butt to my friend Teddy a cocker spaniel. I like to chew on his ears because it feels good on my gums(currently losing all my puppy teeth). Mommy's always getting mad at me for chewing on his ears. Teddy gets fed up sometimes too but when he barks at me I just flip out and jump in place and run all over the place acting like I've suddenly gone nuts!! I make mommy laugh so hard she cries!!!
