You will never believe what my mom just brought home, a little black puppy! We named him Baloo after the big black bear from the movie the Jungle Book. He is around seven weeks old and he's a Border Collie/Labrador mix.
Here's his story:
My mom's sister lives on an acreage and their neighbor's dog had a litter of puppies. They're kept outside, so of course the puppies were kept outside too. She had around ten puppies, they sold most of them. Some of them wandered off and they don't know what happened to them. They ended up with two left.
One of them has a big scab on the back of his head and the other one has a bad leg, so no one wanted them. They're not sure how the one got the scab, but they said the other one was stepped on by a horse when he was three weeks old. They didn't even take him to the vet to get treated!
My mom's sister called my mom and told her the story. She said that since no one wanted to buy them, they were going to abandon them somewhere. My mom could not believe that and went up there to get them. They wanted to sell them to her, but she convinced them to just give them to her.
She doesn't think she can handle two puppies, so her mom is going to take care of the one with the scab on his head. We'll be able to find a home for him sooner because he doesn't need that much treatment. The other one can walk, but he limps alot. He's been like that for weeks, so he's gotten used to it.
We're going to take him to the vet to get his leg x-rayed to see what needs to be done. The vet assistant said he might need surgery, it depends on how bad his leg is. We're going to keep him until his leg gets better, then we'll find him a new home. That is if my mom doesn't get attached and wants to keep him! lol.

Dear Baloo, We are so sorry that you have had a ruff start in life, If we ever see those humans we will personally bite them in the butt for putting you through this.
Sounds to me like your new mom has already fallen in love with you. Say, I bet you a bag of bones and treats she will keep you. Just keep working it with those puppy dog eyes, sounds like you are on to a good thing here Baloo.
Please woof to let us know what happens.
Bark at you later.

I can sympathise, Baloo! I had the same problem with my previous owners, I was suffering from a painful ear infection and they didn't take me to the vet. By the time I came to live with my new Mum and Dad, I was half-crazy with agony, and the vet found it very difficult to treat. I'm afraid I didn't behave very well, and now I've been dubbed the Patient From Hell by the staff at Greencross Veterinary Clinic....mwa-ha-ha! But don't worry, it does get better....I hope you have a speedy recovery, and my thoughts are with you!
Love, Sam
