My Blog
I got a new brother!
His name is Shiloh and he's a kitty! Yes we named him after a dog lol.
My mom was worried he'd be afraid of me, but he isn't at all. She was also worried that I'd be all up in his face or chase him, but I was a good boy and didn't. I'm very gentle with him, I just sniffed him. He climbed onto my bed and fell asleep, then I actually went and curled up beside him! He thinks I'm a chew toy too, he likes to pounce on me and bite my tail and toes!
He's not afraid of my roomate's dog Kiara either, she's very gentle with him too. He's afraid of my roomate's cat Tony though, he hisses and runs away from him. Tony didn't even do anything, he just sat and looked at him. He just has t oget used to him, I know they'll be best friends in no time! He hasn't met their two other cats yet, I'm not sure how they're going to like him.
He did great his first night. He was a little scared at first, but now he's becoming braver and curious. He uses his litter box which is great lol. He likes to pounce on my mom and climb up her, digging his sharp claws in her back! Anyways he has some pretty cool toys that I want. My mom won't let me play with him though, she says I'll destroy them. Pfft, the kitty doesn't even have to share?!
Baloo my foster puppy
You will never believe what my mom just brought home, a little black puppy! We named him Baloo after the big black bear from the movie the Jungle Book. He is around seven weeks old and he's a Border Collie/Labrador mix.
Here's his story:
My mom's sister lives on an acreage and their neighbor's dog had a litter of puppies. They're kept outside, so of course the puppies were kept outside too. She had around ten puppies, they sold most of them. Some of them wandered off and they don't know what happened to them. They ended up with two left.
One of them has a big scab on the back of his head and the other one has a bad leg, so no one wanted them. They're not sure how the one got the scab, but they said the other one was stepped on by a horse when he was three weeks old. They didn't even take him to the vet to get treated!
My mom's sister called my mom and told her the story. She said that since no one wanted to buy them, they were going to abandon them somewhere. My mom could not believe that and went up there to get them. They wanted to sell them to her, but she convinced them to just give them to her.
She doesn't think she can handle two puppies, so her mom is going to take care of the one with the scab on his head. We'll be able to find a home for him sooner because he doesn't need that much treatment. The other one can walk, but he limps alot. He's been like that for weeks, so he's gotten used to it.
We're going to take him to the vet to get his leg x-rayed to see what needs to be done. The vet assistant said he might need surgery, it depends on how bad his leg is. We're going to keep him until his leg gets better, then we'll find him a new home. That is if my mom doesn't get attached and wants to keep him! lol.
Camping
My mom took me camping over the weekend, our roomates and Kiara came too. We went camping up in Bragg Creek, it's just so nice up there. Ever since we went the first time and I met those cows, I've been obsessed with cows! Before I didn't even notice the cows in the fields when we drove there and back, but now that's all I care about. I constantly look out the window for cows and when I see some, no matter how far away they are, I go crazy!
There were no cows close to our campsite though, which kind of sucks because I wanted to play with them! I did see some other interesting animals though. We went for a little walk down the cow trail there and found a nice sunny place to sit. Then a few dogs and some people horsebacking riding walked by. Mom quickly grabbed my collar so I wouldn't go chase those horses, she knew I wanted to. I did get to say hello to the dogs though.
A while after that, mom looks around and couldn't believe what she saw, a baby black bear! It was her first time seeing a bear in the wild so that was pretty exciting. She quickly grabbed my collar because, well you know me, I would've chased the poor thing! Once it heard us, it took off. We quickly left that spot before mommy bear came, wouldn't want to run into her! On the way back to our campsite, we ran into the dogs and horses again.
I was really tired on this trip, I was actually the first one ready for bed! As soon as the tent was set up, I went and layed down. Mom thought it was kind of funny and cute. Of course I had to sleep in her sleeping bag so she couldn't really zip it up. She said she was kind of cold because of that, but I kept her legs warm. On the way home, I saw a deer and her fawn! I never thought I'd see so many interesting animals all in one day!
I moved!
My mom and I just moved in with one of her friends! I really like my new place, there's lots of new smells and things to check out, and best of all, I never have to be left alone! There's usually always someone here to watch me. Sometimes my mom brings me to work with her at the doggie daycare, but she doesn't like bringing me too much because I pick too many fights. When she doesn't, her friend brings me to work with her! She works at a flower shop and she says I'm so well behaved when I'm there.
I get to go on so many car rides and go to so many interesting places now. There's an off leash park five minutes from my new place, my mom brings me there almost everyday. I love it there! There's also a pet store ten minutes away, my mom says she's going to walk me down there sometime to get me a new collar and maybe some other stuff!
My mom's friend had a six month old Hound/Labrador Retriever puppy, but she passed away a few weeks ago. She was born with some weird condition and she couldn't walk at all. I'm really sad that she's gone, but at least she's not suffering anymore. My grandma heard the news and went and got them a three month old puppy. Her name's Kiara and they said she's a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix, but I don't know about that. I don't see the Rottweiler in her at all, more like Husky or something.
There's also three cats here that I love to chase! Raven lives in the basement so I never see her. Tony and Mimu have been staying upstairs during the day and only come down when I'm not around. They're getting more braver with me and I'm getting better at not chasing them. I have a few marks from them scratching me on my head and neck, my mom says I deserved it.
