PureBred?

I cant tell if my dog is a purebred lab or not. I got her from some people who didnt want her anymore and they said that they THINK she is a golden retriever lab mix but i dont think she looks golden retriever at all. Does anyone know what i can do to find out if she is purebred or not? Thanks!

I have to agree with everyone else. Unless you plan on getting into a purebreed only activity it shouldn't matter at all. I had a beautiful black lab / chow mix that I used as my demo dog whenever I taught and imagine the surprise on peoples faces when I told him he was a mix with chow (he looked pure lab!)..lol The only thing that should matter is the unconditional love and loyalty you'll get from your fur kid..........Keep Smiling!

When I saw the small picture of Lexi on the home page I thought she was a Golden. Then, I enlarged the photo and saw the Lab in her also. I would say she's a Golden/Lab mix. I would say it would only matter if you want to do AKC activties with her. Other than that I wouldn't think it would matter. If you want to do some AKC type activities with her - look into Dog Scouts. We do all kinds of activties with our dogs and they don't have to be pure bred to participate. P.S. Lexi is so dang cute!

You can always have DNA done, but it can be pricey, and it probably doesn't matter to your dog!

Does it matter?
