I Have Such Great Pals!
To all my pals who came to my rescue with wonderful, thoughtful ideas for the Big Dog Fence Problem, I want to say thank you soooo much. I’m happy to report that this afternoon, my human Uncle/Brother Taylor, came over and we patched up that hole for now. Taylor also brought his Golden, Tyson, who will be staying with us for the weekend since Taylor is going out of town. Tyson is a big pup but he’s more like “Eeyore”(?) from Winnie the Pooh. He’s a very laid back pup. His birthday is in a day or so and he will be one! Me and Tyson play together very well! We’ll try to get some pictures. Anyway, thanks again. I may have looked brave “barking” at that big dog (but I think inside, I was kinda scared). The treat idea was a good one but we didn’t have to use it. Mom still hasn’t gotten that air horn either. And, I don’t think I have an “inside” bark like I should use for those dogs. Mom doesn’t yell at them either, she always just says that it’s ok and good dog (ha) but they bark most of the time anyway. She has squirted them with the hose and that works really well too. They don’t like that cold water. We’ll see how long our patch job works. At least for now, the hole is covered up so Tyson won’t be too tempted to stick his head over in that yard either. I’m a lucky pup to have such great pals who are looking out for me! You’re all the bestest!!!

We want you to be safe. Our air horn idea came from a breeder, and in fact mama has used it at the dog park successfully to break up two really bad dog fights. The breeder says that it is a safe effective way to stop a dog attack, and causes no harm to people or dogs. It's better than pepper spray, which mama used to carry, and better than have to be stitched up at the emergency hospital. We carry it all the time on our walks, cause some people walk their dogs off leash, even tho in California it is against the law, and one time a man's Akita who was off leash at the time attacked me...mama didn't have an air horn or pepper spray, so she had to get between me and the dog. Mama was sooo scared, but she wasn't going to stand by and see me hurt. The man apologised profusely, said his dog had never ever had a history of aggression...but I am soooo big, (measure 39.5 inches from the ground, wow! right!) and for some dogs my very presence sets off agressive behavior. The problem is not with the pups next door but the owners. Have you considered going over and talking to them, and voicing your concerns, that you want all the dogs in this situation to live in a stress free environment and that your dogs feel threatened and scared by their dogs, and you might be afraid that the behavior may escalate into something that may hurt any of the dogs. Ask them what they think would be a good win-win solution. Sometimes that works. But in the meantime, given the history of their behavior, I would strongly advise getting an air horn...the mini ones...not hurtful to human ears, and certainly better than being hurt by the dog attacking our little Holly. Keep safe little friend!!!!

I'm soooo glad you can go out and play again and not be afraid! Enjoying your yard, walks, simple things....that's what gives meaning to life. Enjoy your yard and I'm soooo grateful you have such a good Uncle/ Brother!

The air horn is going to hurt your and your dog's ears. Use only ICE (in case of emergency).
