Status: Grieving for Butch... Our dogs, like our shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well. Bonnie Wilcox, Old Dogs, Old Friends

Hello, Justice here and I really was born on the 4th of July! I'm a retired blood donor dog after age 7 you are considered to old for this job. I became a blood donor dog because of my doggie dad Pb, if it wasn't for a blood transfusion he wouldn't of lived and I wouldn't be here. After that I worked with socializing the dogs who needed help learning how to get along with other dogs and helping people getting over their fear of bigger dogs. Now I'm just retired. Some days I just stay home and lounge on the couch other days I go to work with mom and just hang-out, visiting with my friends. I'm not sure how I feel about being retired but for right now it's OK!
I guess it will give me some time to bond with my new dad, when he is home. Gee I never had a human dad before.

Hi! I'm Liberty I've had a good
life so far and I enjoy being me! I would like to clear somethings up I
am Justice's aunt my litter mate sister Freedom is his mom. I am
Justice's human sisters dog. I grew up with my human. I saw her
graduate grammar school and high school. I moved away with her when she
moved away from home.
Gma didn't see the need for a big house anymore it was just her and
Justice living in it. She moved into a beautiful trailer with my new
gdad. Well my mom got transferred with her job back home she moved in
with gma + new gdad which left me homeless the community association
only allows 100 lbs of dog. Gma did not know what to do she talked to
her vet and talked him into letting me stay there until she could
figure it out. While she was trying to figure it out they lowwered the
weight to 65lbs. they grandfathered in the dogs living there already.
Gdad kept telling gma to bring me home but she didn't want to break
rules.She would bring me home sometimes on weekends but then I was very
sad on Mondays when I had to stay at work when she went home.
That was until the day the JTR's across the way jumped their electric
fence (again) and started digging up the rosebush (again).Mom brought
them back home. Went to work brought me home with her that night. She
took Justice and I into the community office (she told us to put on our
pitiful faces) and talked them into letting me live with her!
I like my new home it is very cozy and dose not have to many stairs.My
young mom is upset 'cause I now call gma, mom and gdad, dad. All I have
to say about that is they made sure I have a home.
Justice and I are very good friends with the JTRs across the way. After
all, they made mom decide to see if she could bend the rules.
Trees
- I think that I shall never see
- A poem lovely as a tree.
- A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
- Against the sweet earth's hungry breast;
- A tree that looks at God all day
- And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
- A tree that may in summer wear
- A nest of robins in her hair;
- Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
- Who intimately lives with rain.
- Poems are made by fools like me,
- But only God can make a tree!

Pb was/is Justice's Dad. So I'm going to tell you how that came to be.
We were not going to have PB neutered until he was 18 month old because even though his father was a Golden Retriever his mother was a Dalmatian with a history of urinary tract infections. Urinary Tract infections are common in Dalmatians as they are prone to uric acid calculi.(They look like little glitter crystals in the urine and most dog breeds are not prone to them). Our vet advised us to wait until he was sexually mature to have him neutered, as this would allow the urethra to enlarge, thus enabling the crystals to flow through with more ease. Greatly decreasing his chances of developing bladder stones as he got older.
Well a not so funny thing happened on the way to maturity...
It was beautiful September Saturday and we decided to visit friends in who lived on 10 acres of land in the country. It was late afternoon
and we all were building a bonfire for that night when we heard the shot.....Mark who lived there said"I forgot it's the first day of Dove season." The dogs were out of sight (Mark's and ours). We started to call for the dogs but they were not coming. I hoped in my car (back-up training to come when they hear my motor start. They tough themselves the sound of my motor they are coach dogs after all). started the motor and I could here E(he was our dog too) barking off in the distance. I slowly headed to the back of Mark's land finally I saw the grass rustling, but I only heard 3 dogs barking. I let the car roll slowly towards the barks... Mark's 2 dogs and E came running. Mark's 2 jumped in the car, E would not he kept running back towards where they had cam from. I got in my car and followed E I could see where he had stopped up in the distance. He was nudging at something and that something would move a little bit. I got out of my car and ran towards my dogs! There laying in the grass was my Pb he had blood coming out of him from every where. Cut in the grass was the path the dogs had traveled toward my car. I got Pb in the car he was still alive! I headed back toward the house. My husband at the time and Mark got the other dogs out of my car Marks wife ran into the house. Their vet was closed but the recording had the number for an Emergency vet. As we were pulling off to the vet Mark was calling the sheriff.
Pb had enough bird shot taken off him to fill the bottom of an emimiss pan. He was left with some pellets in between his vertebra, in the meniscus of his right shoulder, in the sac around his lungs, in the sac around his heart,...
Anesthesia back then was not as good as it is today nobody wanted to operate on him, not even for a neuter. Our vet said to wait a few years and see what happens.
Well in those few years Freedom & Liberty came along. Liberty was spayed after her first heat(it is not a pleasant experience keeping an intact male away from an in-heat female) Freedom was not she was my now ex's dog.
Shortly after that Freedom and her dad moved away.I did not get Pb neutered....
Until one day I came home and found Freedom playing in the yard with Pb and Liberty.The kids came home from school found her in the yard they let Pb and Liberty out to play. Freedom was in-heat.
Pb went to the vet to get neutered....to late they had already had their tryst.
8 puppies where born on the 4th of July.
8yrs. later I know where all those puppies are. All but one stayied with their new humans. Freedom went to her grandparents they got her spayed. Justice came back to me.
Pb lived a long and healthy life it wasn't until his last 2 years that the pellets left in his body started to break free from the scar tissue and we could see how it was affecting him. Pb was born on the day of my mothers birth(and mine too an extra special connection). It was only fitting that we released him from his pain on the date that my mother died.
To follow-up we never did find out who shot PB. The sheriff would have investigated if we wanted to. My feelings were and still are ..
It was my fault. I let my dog down by not making sure I was letting him off lead in a safe enviorment.
A Dead Warrior
- HERE sown to dust lies one that drave [sic]
- The furrow through his heart;
- Now, of the fields he died to save
- His own dust forms a part.
- Where went the tramp of martial feet,
- The blare of trumpets loud,
- Comes silence with her winding sheet,
- And shadow with her shroud.
- His mind no longer counsel takes,
- No sword his hand need draw,
- Across whose borders peace now makes
- Inviolable law.
- So, with distraction round him stilled,
- Now let him be content!
- And time from age to age shall build
- His standing monument.
- Not here, where strife, and greed, and @#$%
- Grind up the bones of men;
- But in that safe and secret dust
- Which shall not rise again.

We (as well as your family we're sure) know what Butch's family is going through. We thought about sending them an EB before the site went down. We weren't sure if it would be a good idea. Then mommy thought about it, and went to do it. THANKS FOR DOING IT!
