Questioning

I just don't know what do do...I mean we have 4 dogs now, 3 poodles and 1 chihuahua. The problem is, we love all of our dogs but sunni and chi have destroyed our couch by chewwing it and ripping its stuffing out, and to top it off now we have to be right on their tails cus they're starting to mark! We're looking to buy our 1st home and now we're definitly going to need new furniture, and even with the house thing, my father inlaw offered to help us buy a nicer place but we'd have to keep only 1-2 dogs and they'd be outdoors....and we can't imagine losing our babys, specially since i can always picture them ending up in bad homes.....so we're going to try to talk to my father inlaw to let us keep them, and if he won't we'll just have to live in a smaller place that needs work.....but this marking and chewing is stressing me out...it'll waste $$$ to buy new furniture to just get it ruined.....maybe if we fix them it'll help.......i just dont know.Undecided

It sounds like your dogs need to be neutered, to help curb the marking-it WILL help. Only intact animals have the obsession to mark things. Do it sooner than later as they have already started and it is much easier to prevent than fix. Neutering is still going to help, it just takes about 3 months for the hormones to leave their bodies. What about maybe some crates? That should help you control them when you can't watch them. It helps save the furniture and the house! good luck!

Do your dogs have toys of their own?? I give my dogs toys to play with and the have never bothered my furniture or things. My sister puts her puppies in a spare room which has no furniture ( just blankets to sleep on and toys and water bowls)until they get older. She brings them out when she is home to watch them but they have seperation anxiety when she leaves them alone and would tear things up. She says the smaller space helps them feel more secure when shes gone. Perhaps you could try this or if the dogs are small enough a large crate for when your not a home. Good luck!
