Hi Furiends... we hope you had a grrreat Turkey Day. Ours was going good until we got the news that Pawsha's sister, Mia Bella had passed unexpectedly that morning. We're all still grief stricken. She had just been given a clean bill of health the week before. You can read her Memorial Blog and see her baby pictures on our Profile. She was so adorable. And she won 2 Smartest Dog awards and a bunch of 1st place awards in obediance. We're just deeply sadden. Mommy wanted us to tell you about how loyal and loving Akita's are to their familys. But are excellent watchdogs. She says every Akita that she's had does a dance when she comes home. And they have a thing about nudging you with their head when they want to show affection. Mommy says they love to learn to do tricks. Some Akitas can be aggressive. Very aggressive. Mommy says that she feels sorry for the aggressive ones. They don't get the love and affection that they should. Akita's are very smart. Sia, (mommy's blind Akita See-Ya) used to walked 89 yr. old Granny Pete home one slow step at a time. Then come trotting back home. Sia knew every inch of the 27 acres we live on by smell and by running into the garage enough times. After numerous times of hitting it she'd come to a stop and make a wide beeline around it. We used to look out our window and see Sia laying out by the tree's and deer laying right beside her. She didn't know you were supposed to chase them. Unfortunately, a coyote got ahold of Sia. Mia, Pawsha and Mia Bella's mom tried to break it up but the damage was done. They both limped home and we were told at the Vets that Sia was not able to be saved. I always say I'm not going to get another Akita. But Akita's will win your heart. I cant think of another large breed that I want. I have to have at least one Akita in my house. Then my home feels complete.

I wanted to thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words left for Princess Gigi and her family. MDS is such a wonderful group of caring and compassionate friends. Unfortunately, Gigi's daddy had another stroke this week and passed away. Please keep this family in your prayers. If you would like to send condolences, I'm sure they would be appreciated. Thank you all.

Many of you know the beautiful Princess Gigi. Her and her family are in need of all the love, support, and prayers you can send. Her daddy had several strokes over the summer, which is why they haven't been barking. I would like to pass on the latest email we received from Gigi's mom...

It has been a very hard few weeks. Ed is home now with hospice. They started him on morphine yesterday for his pain. He has gotten very weak and lost a bunch of weight. I don't think it will be long now and he will be in a much better place. He will get to see our son again. Timmy was killed in a car wreck in 2004. Ed and Timmy were very close.  Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I don't mind if you let the others know what is going on. If you get a chance I would love for you to visit Timmy's website.
