Cataract Surgery - Recovery

Yesterday I had my surgery to remove my cataract on my left eye. Mummy said that the doctor said that everything went really really well and that they were very pleased with the outcome. They had to make a cut in my eye and suck out the cataract and then replace it with a new artificial lens. Sounds very ouchy I know, but it wasnt because they put my to sleep for the operation. It the most amazing thing happened when I woke up, I could see properly again. It was great, I cant begin to explain how wonderful it is to be able to see things clearly again. Mummy doesnt look blurry to me anymore!

I have to have two lots of eye drops in my eyes 4 times a day, as well as tablets morning and night. I really hate the eye drops, but mummy is gentle so I let her put them in. My eye has been feeling a little funny since the surgery, so to stop me from pawing at it, I have to have a  Elizabethan collar on. Dont like that one either, but again, dont have much choice!

I also cant play with any toys, run around or go for walks for two weeks in case I bump my eye and cause the little fragile stitches to come out, which is so not fair. So all is going well, the surgery was a complete success, so mummy can stop worrying so much now! Mummy says I have to go back next week for a check-up and to make sure everything is going well still. Anyway, I will update on my progress next week, after my follow-up appointment.

Hey Skye, Glad to hear that your surgery went well and that you're able to see now.  Don't worry about the sattelite dish, I think that at least once in all our lives all us doggie will have to wear one.  They're really uncomfortable, (experience talking) but, it will help you get better faster.
