Rainbow Bridge
Hi everyone. Today is a bit of a sad day in my family. My mummy and Daddy had to take my sister, Chloe the rat to the vet and unfortunately due to a fall which had damaged her legs, she has now past over to rainbow bridge. Mummy and Daddy are really sad and I am doing my best to comfort them. They keep telling me she is in a better place now though and we will all see her again one day.

Cataract Surgery - Recovery
Yesterday I had my surgery to remove my cataract on my left eye. Mummy said that the doctor said that everything went really really well and that they were very pleased with the outcome. They had to make a cut in my eye and suck out the cataract and then replace it with a new artificial lens. Sounds very ouchy I know, but it wasnt because they put my to sleep for the operation. It the most amazing thing happened when I woke up, I could see properly again. It was great, I cant begin to explain how wonderful it is to be able to see things clearly again. Mummy doesnt look blurry to me anymore!
I have to have two lots of eye drops in my eyes 4 times a day, as well as tablets morning and night. I really hate the eye drops, but mummy is gentle so I let her put them in. My eye has been feeling a little funny since the surgery, so to stop me from pawing at it, I have to have a Elizabethan collar on. Dont like that one either, but again, dont have much choice!
I also cant play with any toys, run around or go for walks for two weeks in case I bump my eye and cause the little fragile stitches to come out, which is so not fair. So all is going well, the surgery was a complete success, so mummy can stop worrying so much now! Mummy says I have to go back next week for a check-up and to make sure everything is going well still. Anyway, I will update on my progress next week, after my follow-up appointment.

Looking and smelling pretty stinks!
My mummy took me to the groomers today which she said was because i was starting to shed to much now its summer. So they gave me a little trim and brushed out all my knots. I am so poopy know, because i look so pretty and smell nice! I wish I was still dirty. And they also put a little bow in my hair too. Mummy loves it and thinks it is so cute, but its not really me! Thats okay though because when mummy isnt looking i am going to go into the garden bed and get lots more dirt back on me again!Cataract Surgery
Hello everydoggy! Hope everyone is well. As you all know, I am a diabetic and as a result of this, I have developed cataracts in both eyes. I fortunately have been quite lucky in that because my mummy takes such good care of me, the cataracts that have been very slow to progress over the past three years. But, she says that it is now time for me to have something done about them before they get any worse. She tells me she would have done it three years ago when they started, but unfortunately being a uni student means you have limited funds.
So anyway, my mummy took me to a specialist this week to make sure I am a candidate for surgery and to arrange the surgery. So in two weeks time now, I will be able to see properly again. I am so excited and so is my mummy. I cant wait to be able to see everything clearly again. It will be great. Mummy is a little scared though. As with any surgery, animal or human, there are always risks, but I keep assuring her that I will be fine.
On another note, this weekend, my mummy is taking me to church for the annual blessing of the animals. I am so excited because every time we have tried to go to it, something has always come up. Not this time though. Anyway, I will bark with you all later.

Pet expo
Hi everyone! Wags and Kisses to you all. I really wanted to share with you all the very exciting day that I had yesterday at the annual Gold Coast Pet and Animal Expo here in Australia. I went with my mummy, my best friend bella and her mummy. It was so much fun. I got to socialise with lots of other dogs and got to smell all these new smells! There was heaps of products that I made my mummy look at so she could see if there was anything she wanted to buy me. It worked I got this really cute pink dog towel and a new squeaky toy! Gotta love those toys!
I even got to see one of the vet nurses that looks after me whenever I go to visit the vet. She recognised me and came up to say hello and I gave her some kisses and I got a free bandana from her. It looked really nice and I wore it all day. I think I looked pretty cool in it! Bark with you all later!

Happy Birthday Skye!!!!!
Hi everyone. Well as you can see today is my birthday! I am a big 9 years old today. It has been such a great day so far. When i woke up this morning, my mummy bought me in a big chocolate cake that said happy birthday skye on it and a big number nine candle. Obviously im not allowed any, but it sure did smell nice! Mummy and daddy then sang happy birthday to me and helped me blow out the candle. Then came the best part...PRESENTS!!! It was so exciting, I got a new fluffy soccer ball, a rogz surfer bear toy, a new harness and a new hula hoop. Now, I know your all thinking, a hula hoop? But I have always loved playing with them and mummy thinks that it is so cute and funny to watch me play with it. We went over to my mummys dads place today so he could say happy birthday to me and so I could play with all my new toys in there big yard. There is also horses over the fence there which I love looking at, so that was really fun. So that has been my day so far. My mum has put a couple of photos of me from when I got my presents this morning on my profile if you want to check them out. Anyway, I am going to go and chill out in my kennel for a while now, as I am quite puffed from playing all day. Bark with you all later. Skye :)Bath Time!
Hi, everydog! It has been a really great week for me this week. It has finally becoming sunny again here in the sunshine state of Queensland, which means lots more time spent outside playing in the garden and chasing birds this week. My ear is getting much better this week, mummy still has to clean it everyday, which i really don't like cause its so uncomfortable. I keep trying to hide from her everytime I know she wants to clean them, but it doesnt work! Mummy gave me a bath this week. She said that I was a little bit smelly and really needed one. I don't like water and when my mummy had put all the shampoo on me, i ran away into the garden to say hello to the horses and got all dirty! It was lots and lots of fun, but it unfortunately meant that it took much longer to wash me, which meant more water!
My mummy put some photos of me getting a bath on my main profile page if you want to have a look. My friend bella came over to play with me yesterday. It was so much fun. Mummy told me she was coming over and I got all excited and we played together in the backyard for a few hours together. Anyway, thats all for now. I will bark to you all again next week.

Rainy Days!
Hi, every-doggy! It has been a pretty uneventful week here for me in Queensland. We are finally getting lots of rain all this week, which my mum says is great cause we are in the middle of a drought. However, because it has been raining non-stop all week, I havent been able to play outside very much, instead most of my week has been spent indoors. I dont like the rain very much and mum has a hard time getting me to go outside to the toliet when its raining. Why should I have to get my paws wet!
Apart from that, it has been fun playing inside with all my toys and my mum. I got two new toys to play with this week which was great. One of the toys laughs really loud when you press it and it was quite funny at first because I was just sitting there and playing with it and then it started making weird laughing noises at me. It was rather confusing at first and I had to sniff it quite a bit to make sure it was alright, but I love it now and it doesnt bother me anymore!
I had to go to the vet today because mum says I have a small ear infection. I guess that is why my ears have felt uncomfortable for a couple of days. She has to put this horrible liquid medication into my ears every morning and night. I dont like it at all, but she assures me that it will make me better and I wont be shaking my head anymore.
Thanks to everyone who has become my friend over the past week, It is really great and me and my mum are really enjoying this site.
Will bark with you all later.

Welcome to Skyes space!
Hello everyone and welcome to my dog space, or Skye space as I like to call it! My mummy found this cool site on google and thought that it might be fun for us. Mummy says that we will be blogging often so we can tell everyone all about me (Skye) and my fun adventures. For now though, I would like to give you a bit of background info about me. I am a pedigree Border Collie and I was given to my mum when she was 14. Since then, we have never been apart. Me and my mum have lots of fun together playing with toys, going for walks, chasing each around the house or just being lazy together.
When I was four years old, I became really sick with pancreatitis and was in hospital for just over a week. I eventually got much better, but my mummy tells me that because of that, that I am now a diabetic. It is not a very nice thing. I have had to have a insulin injection twice a day since then and am only allowed certain types of food now. I am very brave though, I dont flinch when I get my needle. Mummy turns it into a game instead and I know that I cant eat until I have my injections. Anyway, thats all for now. I will bark with you all later.
Skye :)
