Happy Candy Corn Day!!Momma is feeling better, but not 100% yet.She says she has to get on MCS and MDS because since she is not working,this is the only thing she has to look forward to.

Since humans won't let us have candy, I made us some candy corn doggy cookies.Mmm...they taste good.Tomorrow is Halloween, so I am going to trick or treat on Dog Space.Maybe no one will know I'm a dog, and I can trick them into giving me lots and lots of candy!!

Hi Friends!! Happy Candy Corn Day!! They sure do look good but Momma will not let us have any!! It is still cold here and we, the Dalmatians were stuck tied up outside because of the workers and Diamond (because she can escape the collar) was stuck in a room. We were not happy at all. When Momma came home she fed us and then let us off the chains. She and Samantha gave us extra love and treats. It was a hard day for us; we do not like staying chained up and stuck in rooms. Momma, Samantha, Grandma and Papa do not like it either.

It looks like Chi and Sable are sick so continue the well wishes barks!! We haven’t caught up with everyone’s news, so we don’t have much to report. We love everyone’s stories. And how was your day?

Hello, this is Nickey. I am happy to hear so many of you have owners and leaders that make sure you are being taken care of and healthy. Your families should be the role models for others that want be the owner or leader of dogs or cats. Today, I would like to talk a little about Animal Cruelty. The slide at the end of this bark has many graphic images that were found of photo bucket. These images help drive home the point that Animal cruelty exists and should be taken care of immediately. My and Justice’s goals are to make stricter laws and sentencing for those acts of cruelty and to educate others on what animal cruelty is and what each individual can do to stop it. There are several different form of animal cruelty that effect all animals. The ones I would like to focus on are dog fighting and physical abuse and neglect. Dog fighting is when Dogs are trained to fight and often starved then put in a ring to fight till death. It is cruelty at its worst. There is even a type of fighting involving dogs being locked in a trunk of a car and to fight until one or both die. These fighting rings are illegal and are held “underground” so those involved will not get in trouble. Dog fighting has made the news a lot in the past few years because of the Michael Vick case but it has been going on for decades and centuries. This case has had several positive outcomes. One is the general public has become educated to what dog fighting is and the true affects of it on animals. Education is the key to eliminating a problem. The second positive to come from this case is the rehabilitation of the dogs Michael Vick owed. The general public has become aware that you can teach an old dog new tricks, humans teach dogs to be violent and humans can teach dogs not to be violent. There is one more positive effect of this case I would like to discuss…. If you do the crime, you do the time. Animal fighting is wrong and those involved will be punished. Animal physical abuse and neglect is much more overlooked form of animal cruelty. Yes, you see the articles about a man killing a puppy to get even with his girlfriend and a woman burning a dog for no reason, but those are the tip of the iceberg. Everyday hundreds of pets are killed because the owner doesn’t take care of them or kicks them, poison them, etc and it all goes unnoticed and unreported. I would like to share with you the story of my friend, Teddy bear. He lives in the house behind us, chained to a tree day in and day out. His owner never plays with him or takes him on walks and sometimes his owner never feeds him. We often talk and he says he never been to the dogter and has never had any shots. Sometimes he breaks free from his chain and climes the fence into our yard to play with us and our family. Momma and Samantha often feed him and make sure he has plenty of water. They even give him bones, chewies and other toys to play with. He loves our family and often tells me he want to live with us. I tell him he has got to learn not to chase the cats and hurt them but he doesn’t understand. Momma has called her local Humane Society but all they tell her is they don’t have room for another dog and as long as Momma takes care of him they don’t consider him neglected. They could send animal control to investigate but that means Teddy Bear will be taken to the death chamber because his human neglected him. People like Teddy bears owner should be severely punished but not at the expense of their pets life. Animals should not be punished because of their owner’s actions. That is what Justice and I are trying to change. We propose punishment of those that abuse and neglect, educating the public on how to report and prevent abuse and neglect. We are fighting for more options then the death chamber of those that are abuse and neglected. Help the Teddy bears of the world. Thank you for your time. Charlie, Hello friends!! How are you doing today? It is really cold here and we Dalmatians are feeling it. Anastasia legs were shaking even with her jacket on!! Diamond only stayed outside for a little while, she would rather cuddle with Momma. We really do not have any exciting news other than we can send html barks on firefox again. (YaY) Oh, and we put our 7^th entries in for the doggie decathlon all at one time. That is doing really good for us. Also Anastasia will be sending out daily comfort barks (if needed daily) starting the 1^st to the 11^th, she is very honored. We will bark at you later!!

Hello, this Nickey again with more important topics talk. First off I would like to thank everyone who responded to my bark yesterday. There are some real amazing shelter and rescue dogs on MDS. I am putting a copy of each of barks on my blog “Nickey/Justice the last week” Please if you have anything important to add or a story to share, bark away.

Today I just want to say a few words about Animal health. It is very important that every dog (and other companion animals) get their yearly check ups, vaccinations, and parasites prevention. The yearly check up can help your human know that everything is going all right with you and help you remain healthy. During those yearly checkups you should be receiving your vaccinations to prevent you from getting very sick. Yes these visit can be expensive but my plan is to have more clinics and affordable check ups for all animals. Many wonderful groups like the Humane Society offer affordable rabies vaccinations and spay and neuter clinics. Your human can also give you vaccinations for parvo, distemper, kennel cough and other such viruses at a more affordable rate.

Parasite prevention is a huge concern these days. And the number one parasite that kills dogs is heartworms. Heartworm prevention is essential to your health. I propose more education about these parasites and how to prevent them from adoption on. Affordable prevention meds and test for all animals. It is so important.

Our family has been affected by heartworms and the Parvo virus. As a pup, I and 5 of my brothers and sisters got parvo. We weren’t even 8 weeks old yet. Momma nursed all of us but we lost two, this has haunted my family for years. After we got better Momma learned about the shots she could give us and that is what happened. My brother Dimintri is heartworm positive. We luckily found out in the early stages where he was not even showing signs. He has been put on a long treatment that will kill the heartworms within a year and a half. As of his check up in June, he is almost free of all heartworms. Those heartworms have never slowed Dimintri down. You can get heartworm when on prevention medicine that is why it is important to get that yearly check up.

Charlie, Hi Friends!! Happy Chocolate day!! We helped Momma make some doggie safe chocolate treats for all of our MDS Friends!! Yummy!! They sure are good. But make sure to eat your meal first ‘cause chocolate is dessert only!! We are putting Choclate all over this bark!!

We wanted to congratulate Conway (loveMYmini) for also getting 2^nd place at the PETCO by his house!! YAY!! Justice’s blood work is in and it looks very promising, just an infection but we still are showing our support!! Also PecoDee is coming back this Thursday, we are excited!! And let’s not forget, today (Tuesday) is Corky’s Mum and Dad’s Anniversary. Stop by and wish them a happy one!!

The workers are back again and that means being tied up in the yard or shut in rooms!! YUK!! But Momma says the workers will be done by the end of this week, we hope so. To make matters worse, it is cold and rainy here. How is your day? Let us know!!

This is Nickey, and I wanted to spend a few minutes talking about a topic that is a main focus of mine, Adopting shelter animals and stopping kill shelters. Every day thousands of potential pets are euthanized by county shelters that do not have the funding, space, or man power to keep all the animals. The Animal control/shelters get the least amount of tax dollars to help these animals yet if there is a problem they are the first ones called. My plan is to start many different programs where these animals can be adopted out or used as public help such as a companion for the elderly. When our owners adopt us it can give them a sense of purpose, something to live for, and for us it is the greatest thing in the world.

Shelter animals are great. I would like to point out the star of Hollywood Chihuahua, Rusco, and a former shelter dog.  He was abandon by his family and close to being put down. Rusco had no former training yet he was discovered and adopted. He was then shown how to act on command and did it with style. Another Shelter dog I like to point out is my adopted daughter Diamond. She was literally minutes from being put to sleep with her mother and brothers and sisters when Momma rescued her. Momma wished she rescued the whole family but couldn’t. Diamond is a well behaved dog that learns quickly and can steal anyone’s heart.

There are many Amazing ex-shelter dogs out there that have really made a difference. That is why I say no kill shelters only. If you are going to adopt, adopt for life!! And when you choose to adopt a dog please consider shelter and rescue animals first!!

Hello, How are you today!! Nothing exciting happening to us here. We are still having to go under Internet explorer to send our html barks because firefox don't work for us. No one can bark to PecoDee and this site was going haywire today!! WOOF IT!! That is what we say!!
Diamond wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for all the lovely comments, gifts and congratulations that were sent to her. They were all so sweet.
We also want to remind you the election is coming up and Nickey/Justice team is working hard on the campaign. The next week is going to be very exciting for them!! Remember, Nickey/Justice No animal dies on their watch!!
