My Blog
A Great Start
Well, we had our first meeting of the Heads or Tails Flyball Club and have decided all those important final details like membership and dues/fees. I, as club owner, had created a "constitution" when I first decided to begin the club, but wanted to leave membership and dues/fees open for discussion. Memberships and dues/fees decisions can make or break a team - if you aren't clear on who the members are, how you become a member, what membership equals/allows, who pays dues, what are the dues, when you begin paying dues, how tournament fees are assessed, etc. all kinds of miscommunication can happen. After all, a lot of this kind of stuff is what caused us to leave our old team and start this new club. Anyways, the open discussion went great, everyone contributed, and we are all happy with the final decision. This club is going to be great!
Afterwards, we help our first practice and although a bit chaotic, it went very well. We definitely set the tone for future practcices - skill work over lineups.
I'm very excited!
A New Year, New Club, Old Friends
Its the start of a new year and we've left one Flyball team and we're about to start a new club. We can't wait! All our friends are coming with us... yipee! Since the new year is all about resolutions, we both have one or two.
Curtis: I can let Kesh and the other "big" height dogs pass me in the lane without dropping my ball and without getting snippy. I can learn to play nicely with the other dogs at the dog park, without a muzzle. I can accept the fact that after 9pm mom does not want to play fetch with me anymore.
Derby: I can do a box turn and catch the ball from the box. I can defeat my fear of being "jumped" by the other dogs on the team and pass them with speed, style, and with a ball. I can learn to play with other dogs, not just shadow my mother.
So, on Sunday we have our club's first meeting and practice. We'll let you all know how it goes. Also, we'll give updates on how the resolutions are going throughout the year. Keep your paws crossed!
