Rocky here. Leader and Mama thank you guys for the birthday wishes!

There was cake for the two birthdays! Since in Mexico, January 6th is a special holiday (think of it like Christmas in th USA) there was also this fruit cake called Rosca de Reyes, that has a little present inside. I wanted to dig it right out! What? I thought it was for me to dig out.

Oh, the pack kept a secret from us! We are mad about it. Grandma has been at the hospital not feeling good. She's been there right before New Year's Eve. You know how important Grandma is to us? She's practically our second Mama! We visit her a lot because she loves seeing us there. We give her comfort. We've known her since we came home to live with the pack. I always sit next to her feet to keep her warm. She finally got out today and we are going over there to tell her we are sorry we couldn't visit her at the hospital. No wonder Mama and Papa were gone so much. Nobody knows how to cheer her up more than we do.

We are off to see Grandma!

ABOUT THE DOG: The name Shoven comes from the word "chauvinistic," though it's unclear where Shoven learned to emulate his name. From the moment Barry and Debbie Fisher wake up, Shoven anxiously keeps watch, dreading the moment they leave for work. Once the door is closed, they can hear Shoven's shrill bark all the way to the car and are greeted with the same sound when they arrive back home. Shoven's separation anxiety doesn't stop there. He will also go into a barking, whirling, uncontrollable frenzy whenever anyone leaves the car in which he is riding.

ABOUT THE DOG: Leo was found at the Orange County Animal Shelter, but he came with a curious condition. Whenever Lori coughs, Leo will go out the doggie door to the backyard and climb up onto the fence and walk around, as if on a tight rope. This is distressing because he sometimes falls off and hurts himself or he'll jump off the other side and run away. When he gets out of the backyard, he loves cruising around the neighborhood. He's been found by the neighbors several times and has shown up at the local shelter twice. Sometimes, Lori will even find him pawing at their front door at 2am.

something about Leo: He was adopted from our local shelter! We are supposed to go there if we ever get lost.

Mama & I have been very busy, oh yes indeed.
Mama's been swamped w/homework so she couldn't
get on MDS for a couple days, but we're back and cooler
than ever. And I'm sure that some of you
made some New Year resolutions, go through with them,
its a fresh start...BTW, Mama didn't gimme any New Year
presents, but my birthday comes in 2 months, as long
as she continues to satisfy me w/treats, I guess I can wait
till then!! We're here to send ya a belated New Year,
cuz ur our Homie, Mama has lots of barks to give away,
so we'll holla at ya later!!!!

we are getting ready for 2 birthdays! First is Mama's

Rehab:

Yesterday we went to the soccer games with dad and got to walk in the park. Then, we went to get our food. Leader wanted to take me out alone so I can get used to seeing dogs, again. Anyway, Panchita and Rocky had to stay in the car with dad. We went in and I noticed a pack behind us, a Red Doberman, a dachshund mix, and a Chihuahua mix. Sounds familiar? Leader was weak in the knees when she saw the Dobie. The minute the Dobie saw me, he wouldn't stop looking at me. Guess what happened?  Yep, we ended up being in the same isle. There we were one end to the other. heir leader was talking and the pack was facing an the other way but the Dobie wouldn't turn around and just stood there starring at me. Yep, he starred at me, Leader starred at him.

You know the famous Dobie smile(panthing)?

I told leader, "He better not think I am lunch."

Well, anyway, Rocky and Panchita wanted to get out and go in too. Leader told dad to go a seperate way because I have a way of influincing my behavior on them sometimes. Rocky and Panchita got to sniff and introduce themselves to that pack. Once they were done, the Dobie turn right back and looked at me again! I didn't sense a challenge from him so I kept my cool. Had to give to the dawg. Most dogs just stay stay away or don't stare at me, so he's got guts.
