My Blog Entry
New pup.
Everyone big news, as you know our mummies are currently on holidays. So for the holidays our mummies took us on a suprise hunting trip. As you may know in Australia it is winter, which means HYENA CHASING SEASON!!!!
We are both trained Hyena hunters, which means we know how to hunt them without harming them in anyway. When we round them up our mummies tag them because there are poachers in Australia which hunt the Hyena's and kill them for meat, because Hyena Meat is a delicacy in Tasmania. So our Mummies tag them so poachers think they are owned and are trespassing on a Hyena farm.
So last week we went on a suprise hunting trip to the three sisters. You may not know but the three sisters is a hot spot for Hyena poaching, and its our favourite place to hunt because there are lots of cliffs to run up and down. So we were camping in a small clearing, it was about 1:39 in the morning when we were awoken by gunshots!
Our mummies jumped in the jeep and put us in the back, then we raced towards where we heard the gun shots. As we arrived we saw a group of 4 poachers shoving a dead hyena mummy into a sack. They picked up all the pups and threw them in the back of there ute when they saw us and drove off as fast as they could. But lucky for one pup, they didnt see him hiding behind a fallen log. We smelt him in a matter of seconds and ran over to him fast and very carefully Ruby picked him up by the back of his neck and carried him to our mummies.
Our mummies estimated that he was only 2 and half months old. Because he had no family we decided to take him home, he was very quiet already but our mummies decided to tame him for safety purposes. When he is old enough, they are going to release him back into the wild where he can find a new family, untill then he will be used to teach children in the local schools why poaching these adorable animals is wrong, and to show them that there not blood thirsty creatures.
Today we showed Hyena around our favourite walking spot, thats right pooches we went to the world famous Marge's lookout. Hyena just loved it and we found some kangeroo's that he could chase and have fun with just like us. Because Hyena will be living with us for quite some time we decided to add him to ourdogspace, we hope you help us welcome him to the mds community.

What a cute face your hyena has. Does he have a name? It's awesome that you rescued him. Reading about where you got him reminded our mom of really good memories. Our parents and human sister were in Tasmania (before we were born) and they visited the Three Sisters. She said she never knew people ate hyena meat and she sure hopes she wasn't served any while she was there.
It is wonderful, too, that you are going to take advantage of this unusual, although temporary, addition to your family by taking him to schools and teaching children that poaching is wrong.

Wow good job Ruby and Bindi. You saved Hyena's life. Too bad the others were stolen away. Your mommys are very brave to do what they do. Sometimes poachers don't care and they could hurt your moms. Tell them to be very careful. We agree with Sancho and Dixie ..it takes really "brave" people to hunt animals in the dark and in secret. Our mommy always thought hyenas were a little scary looking but she knows looks are deceiving...she says it's the same way with humans. You take care of Hyena and show him the ropes and when he's released he can teach his friends what he learned from you.

Well Done Ruby, its too bad the others could not be saved. There are evil people in the world who prey on animals for sport. You know we feel if it were a real sport then the animals would have a gun or arrow too. Good for you guys and welcome Hyene!
