Dog Blog: What a morning!

Oh my goodness, I had a rough morning!  It began when I heard this shrill beep early this morning.  Since mom didn't react, I calmed down thinking it was something outside, until 20 min. later when it beeped again!  Mom thought it might be something outside, as I think she was still trying to sleep because it was before 6 am, until it started going off like every 5 min.  Oh my, it was so loud and shrill, I was shaking all over.  Well, mom finally got up, and looked and realized that it was probably one of the smoke detectors.  Problem is, the ceilings are like 10 feet tall and there is no ladder here, I was so scared when mom had phone books piled on top of a bar stool.  She reached up, and got the battery out, but it kept beeping.  She muttered something about it being hard-wired to the building, and then it kept going!  Mom kept searching all over the house for a battery, but the landlord didn't have any stored away.  She had to rush to get ready, then she actually left me with this hideous noise, I was scared half to death.  When she got back 10 min. later, she had to climb up again, then the beeping stopped.  I was so happy that I was jumping around and giving mom kisses.  Then the worst thing of all happened, mom had to leave me again.  Can you believe that, she left me twice in one morning!  She said something about being late for the bus and having to make sure she made it to work before her first patient.  I'm a happy pup now though, no beeping and mom is back home to give me attention.  Very rough day, I told mom that she couldn't leave me again today or I'll do something mean, like not give her kisses!
