We each have a story ~ now, happy, healthy (frankly) spoiled rotten.

We adopted Rudy shortly after putting our almost 17 yr old lab shepherd to sleep. Rudy (orig named Zeus, then Auggie)...came from the J'ville, FL area, by MDS member, Aussie6pk! Rudy was found tied to a fence at an elementary school.

A6pk said, "Ya know, these aussies are like potato chips, ya can't have just one". I thought, "Right, you crazy lady". Four more dogs, later....we often tell Rudy, if he wasn't such a great guy, no others would be here.

Rudy is a happpppppy boy, always ready to go. He and Lacey are the "sport dogs".

He hates fireworks and loud noises.

Chloe was a former backyard breeder, who was surrendered to the shelter in J'ville, FL, after all three of her pups died. Her own life hung by a thread, at a scant 23 lb. We agreed to foster her. She had never eaten from a bowl, been in a home, and was afraid of us and even her two brothers. She made it through dangerous heartworm treatment, then spay, and she was ours. The following year she was Miss Sept on the nat'l aussie recue calendar (at 47 lb). She is a living testament to the power of patience, love, good food and vet care!

Jackpot was surrendered to me on the turnpike, in between hurricanes Frances & Jean. He was "too much dog" for his third owner. Prior to that he had been raised by a lovely young girl, whose stepfather said he shed too much & took him back to the breeder (after she had him for over a year). We have been in touch! I had five prospective homes lined up for this 80lb puppy. One by one they fell thru. I thought, God means Jack to stay here. High contrast colors, with lots of silly expressions, Jack models. His first job was for the BACK of a bus, for "Real Men Neuter Their Dogs" campaign. He is in training (mostly learning to control his impulse to do what he wants, WHEN he wants)! We are planning our CGC test for the fall, so he can do AAT (animal assisted therapy) like his brother, Mack.
