I started out life in upstate New York. Legend has it, my mother a beautiful Samoyed and in heat escaped from the yard and came back 3 days later pregnant with 8 puppies. I was taken by a cousin for her children, but it was an abusive household and I was soon in a home and being beaten and left out in the back yard. My mommy who does rescue heard about me from a neighbor and came and took me away to live in Manhattan, with all my brothers and sisters: Hershey, a liver-spotted Dalmation who my mommy saved from the side of a rural road in Washington 

I have had a wonderful life with my family, I am always happy, tail wagging, vivacious and playful. I love everyone - people and animals alike

I  started to limp at the end of January '08, and my mommy took me to the veterinarian when the limp was getting worse not better.   She learned the terrible news that I had osteosarcoma (bone cancer) on the upper part of my left front leg. The vet says my lungs and other organs are clear right now but that this is a highly aggressive kind of cancer and my leg and shoulder had to be amputated immediately. I had the  surgery on January 17, 2008 and started my first session of chemotherapy on February 3. 

Mommy  borrowed all she could out of her  401K for care of me which covered my surgery and the first chemo treatment.   February 7th  mommy lost her job of 21 years and she is  desperate to get the funds together for the rest of my treatments. Pleaase help me to help my mommy so I can have a chance to die of old age instead of cancer.

Now after all this I found out that my sister bird, Tidbit has cancer also....Mommy has chosen to put me in holistic treatment as well as chemo and Tidbit is only having holistic treatment.  For me long after chemo ends I will have to be taking the holistic suppliments at $500 a month.

My name is ahhhhhhh I forgot.....Well you can see upabove my mommy wrote it. 

Mommy was on a film crew in rural Washington State and they were driving back to the motel at 12:30am when she saw something on the side of the road.  She made the driver stop and found it was a dog (me)  starving and very close to death she picked me up since all the guys were affraid to touch me and held me in her arms all the way back.  I was past the point of wanting to eat even though by that time the crew guys felt really bad and went to the local diner and bought me steak and hamburger.  Mommy knew she had to get me to a veterinary before traveling back to the filming location the next morning and she found a veterinary who was open early and dropped me off.  The Tacoma Small Animal Veterinary Hospital saved my life and I lived there for the next 2 weeks recovering.  My mommy visited me everyday mostly in the morning and late evening and they were very acommodating to her schedule there.  When it came time and mommy was going back east she already had 3 dogs at home and bought me a big crate and feather pillow with a little blanket she was petrified because she had never flown a dog before but the option of driving me back across counrty (which she was willing to do) was not an option as far as this wonderful vet was concerned.  He said I had been to sick for such a long drive and was better off getting east asap.  United Airlines took wonderful care of me, mommy was thrilled everyone was so caring and really eased her mind.  When she got me home everyone welcomed me with open paws.

I knew then I was safe and had found a new family.  Mommy never really knew how I was lost or what happened to me but the vet said it looked like I must have been a stray for about 3 months.  I was very young when lost or left so I did not know how to fend for myself I had been very scared and alone.  Mommy realized I was scared to death of water so she thinks perhaps at some point I had fallen into Puget Sound.  I am safe now but still affraid of many things and will still bolt at loud sounds.  I am a first class couch potato and love my comfort.  Hell with the dog run and the park just give me my mommy, my bed or my couch and I am happy.  Oh I am also #1 garbage eater.  Love those garbage days.

Hi My name is Bonsai,

Mommy rescued me from the shelter the Brooklyn CACC along with another Black shepherdy dog named Eli. I was found as a stray and when mommy and Auntie Jeannie got us out we were both on the euth list.  Eli and I became best of buds in the Kennel where we being kept.  She put us both up for adoption and Eli got a home pretty quickly, so lucky for me she took me out of the kennel and brought me home to foster me there.  We visited with many people who liked me but no adoptions panned out so when our elderly sister dog Meila passed on mommy said "hell with it the more the merrier" and I became part of the clan.

I am so happy here with Mommy and sister Sally and brother Hershey, we also have 4 cats, who are nice and like to sleep with me but for the most part I think cats are weird they never want to play with me.  Sally used to be my play pal but since she had her leg amputated I start to play with her and she will for about 2 minutes but then she lays down.  I miss running around with my Sally so much.  Mommy takes me to the dog run but its no fun without my Sally and I just stand there.

So here I am a very happy boy and I love my family very much.
