Hi friends,
We have been so lax in getting barks out that it seems ridiculous. I am still Benji the Babysitter as Emily and Conner's dad is still in the hospital. Momma said that he has been in there for almost 30 sleeps now. That is a long time. The kids are really great, I am getting used to having my hair styled, and yes even having to walk around with a mohawk or two.
This week has been a different kind of week for us. One day it started to rain, and it rained and rained and rained. Lots and lots of water was on the ground outside, then all that water started coming inside! Momma and Daddy were very upset, and I was afraid my new bed might float away! They have spent the last two days trying to get the water out of the house. Momma just keeps saying "What are we going to do?" Daddy says a bunch of words that I am too much of a lady to repeat.
Momma and I have been so sad about Dukie's passing. We wish we could do something for Emily. She and Dukie helped us find a medicine that took away most of my arthritic pain. We feel we owe them more.
When we go walking, most of the time it is after dark, so we try to be quiet and not disturb the other dogs in the neighborhood. So a lot of the time we don't talk much and if we do, we talk very quietly. Last night while we walked, we talked about all the friends on MDS that went to the Bridge like Penny and China and Butch and Chi-Chi and now Dukie and all the others. I told Momma about how Uncle Tippy comes to me in my dreams and tells me about the Bridge. I told momma that I hope she will not be sad when I go to the Bridge because that is where Uncle Tippy lives now, and it is so wonderful. I told her that I wished that all dog pawrents could know what us dogs know about the bridge. Then they would be happy when their sweet babies got to go. Momma just smiled that smile she uses when she knows no matter what, I am not going to understand.
Then we talked about our friends that are still here and how wonderful and supportive they are even though we are not on as much as we once were, and how much it helps to read all those sweet barks of encouragement and strength. Thank you so much.
Until paws and keyboard meet again,
Benji
