The Cats Strike Again!
I think our mystery is solved! Yes, Ember puts everything in her mouth. How did I not figure this out before? Someone had to say hey, could they be eating CAT LITTER? I've been worried about the Cat Heads since we got Ember because they don't like Ember so they don't come downstairs as much, don't get their chances to eat and use the litter boxes as much as they used to... so I've noticed there hasn't been as much dirty litter... thought they just weren't coming down as much... DUH! They're not pottying less... it's just disappearing from the box! I have no proof of this- though I may have caught Ember exiting from a snack break one time, but I wasn't sure. But this seems like a pretty solid theory. The good news is that Ember's stool sample results were parasite free... so I may have just gotten my cats and my puppy tested all in one shot! Right after I read that response on a previous blog, I called their Dad, who was at the cabin with them and said she had puked again, told him the new theory, so he took a look at what she'd spit up, and sure enough... I'll spare you the details, but she's been eating cat litter! This is a problem I can fix.
Now what can I do about the fact that everytime I water the flowers, she thinks that's her cue to get in there dig them up?
I'm pretty sure this is limited to Ember- Olie went through his phase of litter eating and paid the consequences and learned his lesson. His issues were still probably related to something stuck in his throat.
Once again, the cats invaded and created havoc!
(2 hours later) Suspicions further confirmed! Her Dad just got home with her and has pulled her out of the litter box 3 times, everytime he turns around she's back in there! So we've DEFINITELY figured it out, now we just have to fix it.

I am glad to hear you are both feeling better. When I was just a pup mommy tried to litter box train me. I don't know what she was thinking. Did she think I was a cat? Anyway, I can't believe it but they actually make doggy litter. Well that idea of her's didn't last long because I would eat the litter. I hate to admit it but back then I would eat my poop too. Do you know what my vet's suggestion was? He said "tell her it's yucky". Oh yes, like that was going to work. Thankfully I out grew it. I hope you have luck keeping Ember out of the cat heads box. -Sami

What to do? Well... I'm not ENTIRELY sure, but the idea will be to keep the boxes accessible to the cats but not for Ember... we solved it with Olie pretty simply. The only litter boxes he can get to are covered and he doesn't have much interest. We just had to block off the only one that is uncovered (have to keep one uncovered- the Cat Heads said so). But Ember is stealing from the covered box- only one, as far as we can tell, but not sure. At some point she'll simply outgrow it- Olie's face is too big to really get in there. But until then, we're gonna have to do some fancy fencing! Luckily cats can jump, and they'll probably appreciate it because they'll do just about anything to stay away from Puppy Face!

Oh Ember! Don't eat the cat poops...Do you know what that is? Well it's ... well cat poops...you know like doggy poops only it comes from a cat! Now we understand that to us dogs some things just smell so good and tasty that our humans say isn't good for us...but really listen to them on this one. That stuff is just straight up GROSSSY NASTY! I (Chi) used to do that too when our cat brother Scamp was still with us and oh boy did I get in trouble. Not to mention it makes you frow up! Mom says luckily Scampy only had to use it at night cuz he would go outside during the day so she could put it up in the daytime and me up at nighttime. I think what made it taste best was it was covered in little rocks...man rocks are good! Anyway just try to remember anything that is poops, or sounds like poops is not good for you! Plus you get cat poops breath! And mommy and daddy just don't like kissies when you got cat poops breath!
