My Blog
Special Request: VEGAN blog :)
A friend asked me to specify the difference between Vegans and Vegetarians, hope this is good Tina ![]()
TYPES OF VEG HEADS:
Semi-Vegetarian: does not consume animal flesh, with the exception of fish
Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: does not consume any animal flesh, but does consume dairy, eggs and by-products.
Ovo-Vegeratian: does not consume animal flesh or dairy products, but does consume eggs and by-products.
Lacto-Vegetarian: does not consume animal flesh or eggs, but does consume dairy products and by-products.
Vegan: Does not consume animal flesh, dairy products, eggs or by-products (including Honey in most cases)
I went Vegan last summer after about 3 years as a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian. The final push for me was discovering where all my regular food ingredients came from. I feel alot cleaner in body and spirit, knowing that I'm not consuming any part of animals. Along with my Veganism came my marriage to fair-trade organics, I cannot urger everyone to be Vegan, but I do urge you all to buy fair-trade and organic. Local co-ops will usually have fair-trade produce and organic ones at that...It's just a good thing to have in your mind and spirit...it's good to feel like you're helping the farmers who grow or raise your food.
My Keyser is definitely not vegan or vegetarian, I do make him vegetable mixes, but I have no way of knowing that he would be okay without meat or that he would chose this, I certainly cannot just impose my diet on him, so I feed him free-range, organic chicken and wild meat (not caged and not raised to kill).
It's a tough choice to make, some chose vegetarianism/veganism for health, other for ethics, whatever your choice is...even if it isn't to be a Veg Head
...be wise about the food that goes into your body and into the bodies of your family members, down to the tiniest pup and kit!
