Team Monty is in training for Delta Society Org, as an animal assisted therapy dog, PAWS for Healing, and the R.E.A.D. program.
Monty loves his walks, especially to the elementary school near his home, where he provides the children with lots of love. His first visit was at four months old and when he sees his "Therapy Dog In Training Vest" he is good to go.
Everything about Monty is large, his outlook on life, love of people and other animals, and especially his family.

My 'sun' and I went to the home of a couple who rescued Australian Shepherds, to get a dog companion for Meg our Border Collie. We saw a yard full of rescues, and way in the back, hidden by a tree was this big Red Merle, who had been shaved to the bone because of fleas, so he looked really haggard. My son asked them to bring him out, and all of a sudden this pitiful, blue eyed dog was staring up at me, scared to death. We loaded him in the car, 50lbs of dog half on and half off my lap, and he didn't move for the entire trip home. His first encounter with Meg was her nipping at his heels as he drank from her water bowl. They became fast friends, and it wasn't til much later that we realized he was partially deaf, and Meggers was his ears. She 'tattled' on him when he got in trouble, she 'went to get him and herd him into the house' when we called him. They were inseperable....when one got up the other followed, often touch bodies as they walked.
Max became daddy's boy, and my husband and him were the best of friends. He was in our arms as he made his way to the Rainbow Bridge to find Meg and Bambi and wait for us there. We miss him soooo much, he was a gentle, sweet dog. My granddaughter, at 6, said on seeing his picture said, "I miss Max soooo much, we had such a special relationship" and that was true, cause beside his dad the other love of his life was Heather.

Meggers was something else....she was Max's ears, and she stole our hearts. Meg was smarter than any dog I have ever known. Her mom was a working Border out of Texas, and her dad was a 'movie dog'...he was in the movie "The Boy Who Could Fly", and did commercials for TV. She was a swimmer extrodinaire....she would 'launch' herself from the side of the pool to catch her favorite water Kong. She would dive under the water. If a sprinkler went on she was in it...the sound of water made her come running. If it was raining out, she was in her element. Heaven was a walk in the rain for Meggers, unfortunately, not for her mama. She loved to play soccer and tether ball with Max, and to 'Bubble Bear" with him too. Just saying the words 'Bubble Bear' would send her into howls of anticipation waiting for someone to blow bubbles so she could catch them in the air.
She was soooo sweet....and she was in love with my youngest son....as far as she was concerned he was the Alpha dog...any command I gave her, she would look at him and wait for him to repeat it, and then obey him.
Her death was unfortunate, she died from complications after surgery. She is with Max and Bambi our first dog a miniature Beagle at the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for us all.

What can I say about Bambi, other than she was my baby. She was a miniature Beagle, and I got her six weeks after I lost our first Beagle, who died at only nine weeks after mouthing an Arizona toad. I had vowed never to have another dog, and then I saw this sweet pup. When I first laid eyes on her all I could say thru my tears, was "My little baby" and thus she became Mia Bambino. Bambi was a hoot, and lived to be 18 years old.
Bambi was amazing, she would visit the schools where she could count (by barks) among her many tricks. The kids would lay a trail down with her rabbit skin, and she could follow it thru the house and find it.
She was always cuddled close to me whenever I sat or lay down. She slept nestled with me. She was a sweet little thing, and I miss her dearly to this day, seventeen years later. Like a first love, you never forget!
Pics to come....
