WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

You don’t have to have children to be a role model

in the life of a child. What we say on this site may
change the life of child in how they think about and
relate to animals, and all living creatures. That’s why
I am glad that there are children on MDS, reading and
watching….and learning!

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you hang my
first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
 wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
 to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make my
favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little
things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I heard you say a
prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always
talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each
 other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you give of
your time and money to help people who had nothing,
and I learned that those who have something should
 give to those who don’t.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you take care
of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’ t
feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
 responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw tears come
from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw that you
cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I learned most of
life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I looked at you and
wanted to say,’Thanks for all the things I saw when
You thought I wasn’t looking.’

Allergy Update

I had all sorts of problems with my tummy, and no fur on my feet, and no one could give me an answer, til we happened on one vet who was smart enough not to keep switching food. I thought I was on the bestest food ever, go figure…natural, no additives, no chemicals, no preservatives, no hormones, all that good stuff, I mean to tell you an abundance of all the natural good food stuff. Well it turns out, that I am allergic to all sorts of stuff, including rice. It turns out that no matter how abundant the good stuff in your food is, you could be allergic to it. The stuff that’s in the GOOD DOG FOODS, just wasn’t any good for me. I am also allergic to beef, lamb, dairy (so much for the yogurt that is so good for everyone else but me), soy, in most GOOD DOG FOODS, and all sorts of other things. If it weren’t for having allergy tests run, I would still be sick. So much for that diet of hamburger and rice…wow! Did that do a number on me.  When the allergy results came back, they had a list of recommended dog foods for me. Mama tried this duck and potato, woops, that didn’t work, too much potato gave me the nasty stuff that mama couldn’t even pick up. So now I am on chicken, oatmeal, and potato…and all the fur on my feet are back, and I feel great. All that mucousy stuff in my ‘u-no-whats’ is gone, I had to go on antibiotics, cause the stuff I was allergic to on the outside was messing my tummy up on the inside. It didn’t occur to mama that the food that was causing me to itch, and loose hair on my front paws and tail, would also do a number on my insides!

They ran another allergy tests, for non-food related allergies, and I am allergic to dust mites, certain pollens, some grasses, mold, etc. So now I stay off the nasty park grass, cause it has dandelions in it and it’s bermuda grass.

I am feeling great now, putting on a little weight, and actually love my food. Before I ate when mama put the food down, now I bug her to get up and give me some food. I even do tricks for those little tasty morsels.

So, at least for me, a few $$$$$’s for allergy tests solved a whole host of problems. Had I listened to advice to just keep on trying other foods, I don’t know if I would still be here. Danes have very sensitive tummy’s which could result in bloat and torsion, which is very serious and could lead to the death of some organs from lack of blood supply to even the death of me. And that food was giving me lots of gas…part of the ‘inside’ problem.

Me and mama aren’t vets or professional nutitionists at this dog food stuff, but you don’t have to be a professional to know when something ain’t working.

Happy Eating,

Hugzzz,

Monty

NEW USER HELPFUL INFO

We have been asked numerous times by MDS ‘newbies’ how to do the stuff they see us ‘old timers’ do. Have fun, and  ENJOY!!

Here is how to post pictures in barks (that’s what we call the messages). Find a site that has some really neat graphics, you can do this by doubleclicking on any of the graphics posted anywhere and it will take you to that site. When you find one you like, look for the ‘myspace code’ copy that, and then come back to MDS. When you click on bark to send a message, you will see in the upper left hand corner a B I U (smiley icon) and html. Click on the html and it will open up another dialog block….now paste your code there, click ‘update’ at the bottom, then it takes you back to the first block, then click submit (to the right, it’s blue) and voila, you should have it appear. If the pic looks too big, then AFTER you hit ‘update’ and BEFORE you hit ‘submit’ you can click on the pic and grab it by the upper right hand corner and resize it. Then click ‘submit’ and it should fit in the bark.

For personal pictures, get a free online registration to photobucket. You can load personal pictures from your computer on your own account there (mark it private if you dont want everyone to see it). When they are loaded they will automatically be html coded for you. Remember to resize them smaller (click edit above pic, then resize, what works best for MDS is ‘Website email 320×240), )...now you can copy and past the code from any pictures of your dogs onto the barks too.

A site named ‘Blingee’s, will let you upload pictures from your computer and ‘dress them up’, and then generate a code. Another popular one is called Imikimi, and that allows to you trick out your pics as well. You import your pics from your computer (no code needed) dress them up and then the code is generated for you.

This also works when you go to MY DOGS, and click ‘edit’ click on html and post the code there. When you post a code here, make sure you hit the update button first, then the submit button at the bottom of the page.

That’s also where we post our music players. Go to a site called project playlist, sign up for an account, registration is free, follow the directions, get your own music and copy and paste the code. The code will be the same one generated for MySpace. Make sure you check the box for random play, so the same song does not play everytime your page is accessed, this is also where you choose the color of your player. You can go there multiple times to change the color of your player, or if you player doesn’t load correctly,go there and get the code again. Go to MyDog (edit) then go to the ‘open box” and click on HTML (to the right of the smiley icon, when the second dialog box opens paste in that box, hit ‘update’ then when that closes hit submit at the bottom of the page. Any time you add ‘codes’ you have to click on html and the second dialog box opens. If you see a song you like on anyone’s playlist, just click where it says ‘add’ to the right of the song, copy and paste the link and it will take you to your  projectplaylist and add to your own player. Exit out, don’t worry it will save and add it automatically. From the project playlist site you can edit, delete your music with reloading or repasting codes, it automatically will update.

There is a site that has a slide viewer, a number of people on the site have used that, it has crashed and destroyed their page. They had to cancel and rejoin and lost all their pals.

Some graphics ‘interfere’ with the music player when posted below the player, try to post all your graphics above.

For editing purposes, I have found a trick on my own, I use ‘tilde’s” (~~) between each ‘code’. It makes it easier to delete or paste another code. I still go nuts when I see all that code stuff, and without the tilde’s I have had to delete everything just to get one off.

Hope this helps. Have fun and enjoy getting into the fun of sprucing up your page. Go to Astrids page and sign up your female dog for the Diva’s club, she hosts virtual dances for the dogs, it’s a real hoot, you can scroll back a number of pages and see some of the previous dances. For the boy dawgs, there is the original club Macho Men’s Club formed by Chance, an Eskie (chanceandsugar), to protect the Diva’s and the rest of the dogs on the site. We have a lot of fun, dressing up the dogs, taking pics and having a virtual dances for them. The MMC usually acts as bodyguards, and we dance with the gals and eat up all the treats on the virtual buffet.

MY BIRTHDAY GIFTS FROM

AUNTIE FRAN, TUCKER, SASHA, AND SUGAR!!!These are pics of my presents. We made a video show, but can’t seem to get it to load here…we will try again. And the two presents I got from Auntie Fran after my surgery, are looking on. Bubber Cheekin then got real nervy, and was trying out the chairs like Goldilocks, well she ended up at the pub table, then got into the liquor cabinet,(Olie did your Bubber do stuff like that, this one seems like a real party girl) and then got to talking with Tuck ‘n Sash, and wound up with Tuck wrapped around her like a fur stole. I love her tho, I can see why Olie was smitten by her.

Monty Musings

I changed my backgound, but I am still honoring one of my K9 doggie heros, Ando. He had a distinguised career keeping us safe from harm, and was also the K9 Olympic top medal winner. Rest in blessed peace Ando. We were proud to have you on MDS, and get to know you from your dad’s blog’s and stories about you.

Monty honors all his K9 heros.

MACHO MENS CLUB ~ PROUD MEMBER

Macho Men’s Club. Holy Dane Muffins, I am a real member of a bona-fide men’s club. Now, let me tell you this is a big deal, cause as a Dane, at 22 months I am still a pup (TEENAGER MOM, GET IT RIGHT!) ok to continue, we mature at 36 months. Doesn’t make sense to me that the dogs who live the longest mature earlier than the dogs with the shorter life span. I have all this wisdom within the clubdom to draw from. Dogs from every walk of life who can offer advice. You may say, ‘Monty you see dogs everyday, why only here"? Duhhhhhhh, the obvious…dogs talk here. It’s a magical kingdom, we talk, we actually communicate. As usual, we have to depend on our two legged skinpeople in order to type those words/thoughts down, as keyboards were not made for large footiepaws, with or without ‘dews’. Chance, an Eskie (northern dogs inhabit every portion of my life) is the founder and President. A most Macho dog cannot be found, and heading up as VP, of course is the venerable Tucker. I call him Tuck, we are buds, but since he is a GS I wouldn’t if I were you unless you are one of his buds too. This is a good fit, cause the northern dogs are naturally bossy, they are good at pulling the weight of the entire club, keep everyone on ‘line’, good schmoozers (smiling all the time), and tho look blase will rip you a good one if you dont stay on the trail. As for the GS’s well they are obsessed with law and order, good at keeping us all together in a tight little group, nothing gets past them, good at keeping the riff raff at bay and make really good bouncers if someone gets out of hand at any of the Diva functions. ````````` PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
