Lilly is a rescue! She was living in a big, nice home peacefully until her owners decided to get a BIG WHITE GERMAN SHEPHERD puppy. She was so frightened by this big dog, Bo, that she had to hide from him. She would run into the Laundry Room and into her kennel just to get away and hide. She is still traumatized by big dogs.
A friend of ours told us about Lilly and how the owners wanted to get rid of her. We decided to meet Lilly and it was "love at first sight". Once I put her in my arms, I wasn't letting go! We rescued her on June 25 and her little quirky ways just puts a big smile on your face. Less than 24 hours of having her, we realized that she wasn't coming or understanding verbal commands. We suspected that she was hard of hearing. After having Lilly checked out by our vet, he confirmed that Lilly was deaf and was probably since birth. It didn't matter to us, we had decided to keep her anyway. We did some reading on deaf dogs and this is helping us help her to adjust to her new home and big sister, Gizmo.
