My Dogs

Birthday: November 27, 2003
Breed: Rottweiler
Secondary Breed: German Shepherd
Size: Medium
From: City of Tulsa Animal Shelter
Home Date: January 15, 2004
My full name is Lyudmila Pavlichenko. I'm named after a female Russion sniper in WWII. She was the most successful female sniper racking in over 300 confirmed kills.
I was taken to the shelter with all my litter mates. I was the only female. All I had to do at the shelter to suck in my mom and dad was bite and shake the gate to my kennel. They thought I was real tough.
But now my favorite thing to do is lay around and chew on bones. That's when my new little brother doesn't steal them!!
I have my own spot on the bed with my own blanket and pillow. And everyone knows not to sit on my end of the couch or I'll sit and stare at you until you move.
I was diagnosed with corneal edema back in 2005. After several treatments of eye drops and ointments, mom and dad took me to OSU in Stillwater to see what other options there were. They opted to put me on a donor list for a new cornea. After a couple long months, one became available.... now I can see a little better.. well enough to get around and play with my brother and sister (a cat).
I hope my brothers at the shelter found a good home... but I've got the best ever!

My full name is Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richtofen. I'm named after the Red Baron.. whose birthday just happens to be the same as my Home Date. My new mom and dad wanted my name start with an "M" and it had to be war related like my big sisters.
I showed up one Friday at mom's work (911). She took me home even though I was covered in ticks from being on the streets. I jumped the fence the night she rescued me. Fortunately, I knew this was the place for me so I waited on the front porch until dad got home from work.
I have a very cute and innocent looking face, but don't let that fool you...I'm quite the terror when you leave me alone. One day, they were giving me a chance out of my cage and I ate a package of beef jerky, a loaf of wheat bread, a whole bag of dog breath biscuits, and a couple peanuts from Wrigley Field. Unfortunately, that won me no freedom when they have to leave for work or something. Man, that was a good day!
I have been through beginners school at the Tulsa Dog Training Club and will start Advanced beginners in September. I made some really good friends in class!
I'm glad I chose the streets of downtown to wander in... I have a really good home now. And now I have a microchip, so I'm not goin' anywhere!!

MyHotComments Hi everyone, Well today is Momma's last vacation day; she goes back to work tomorrow. I will miss not having her at home everyday, she says her tummy gets upset everytime she thinks about having to go back to work. Last night she and I took a long walk. I am surprising myself about how good I am doing with that wretched cart. I kind of like it now that my butt has pretty well quit working at all. I can stand up again and that is pretty cool. The only hard part is coming back up the hill. Momma hasn't let me go all the way to the bottom yet, She is afraid that I will get too sore trying to climb back up. Momma and I have a game we have played since I was very young that we call "The Stinking Couch" game. Momma tells me she is going to put me on the stinking couch and I pretend to try to get away from her. I know it sounds stupid, but she gets a kick out of it. Since I have had this butt-drag disease it has been impossible to play like we once did. I have been trying to teach her that we can still play, we just have to play different. Instead of trying to get away from her, I just go dead weight now making it harder for her to pick me up. And by George (No, george its just an expression, she didn't go by you) she finally figured out that I was still playing last night and not saying that I didn't want to play. So we had a blast playing for a long time last night, then we all laid on the bed and just relaxed and petted one another for a long time. After awhile, I was ready to go to sleep and Momma helped me get on my bed and get comfortable. Finally she and Daddy went to sleep. I laid there a while thinking about how much my life has changed, but how much it is still the same. Then I too, drifted off to dream land.

MyHotComments Momma and I started out sending barks yesterday and were interrupted by some wild Indians. I never knew my human cousins were Indians. but Momma is smarter about certain things than I am. I woke up with a kind of upset tummy, but I had to go with Daddy to the store this morning. He needs me to go and guard the truck while he runs into the store. When we came back, I ate breakfast then crawled up on my new bed and took a long, long snooze, until Momma decided I needed to be combed. That woman picks the worst times to do stuff like that. I didn't want to be combed. I finally TOLD her too. Then I went outside to look for Foxy, but she didn't come out. I think she may not be home or something. It was nice outside so I stayed out a while and sniffed around. The warm air made me think about the little Princesses sunbaking so I decided I needed to come in and finish sending barks. I hope the New year has met you with peace, prosperity, and good health and continues to bless you with such goodness for the next 364 days. Love Ya!

Hi Milla and Manny,
Yes sometimes Momma and Daddy do leave me in the car while they go into restaurants. Not in the warm weather or cold weather. Only when it is cool and they leave a window down for me. They usually sit near a window where I can see them and they can see me. And they never spend very long. That really was in the old days though. The last couple of years, they have not taken me as much as they once did. They know I get tired and that I can't hold my bladder as good. I still get to go to the store with Daddy in the mornings when he goes to get those nasty old cigarettes. But he doesn't stay long.

Hi Milla and Manny Today Momma said that we had to winterize Daddy. So we went to the store and bought Daddy some thermal underwear and socks. Then Momma and Daddy went into a restaurant to eat. They never let me go in. They say dogs aren't allowed in restaurants. I think that is discrimination against the whole dog race. They aren't allowed in restaurants, only certain stores, churches, only sometimes in schools, theaters or libraries. I think we should stand up for our rights too. I think we should be allowed to go to church. Do humans think they have a corner on the market for needing to repent for sins? Are they the only ones who can worship God? I though America was a free country. Free to whom? Certainly not us dogs. I like a good movie now and then. Why can't I go to a movie theater? Why do I have to sit in the car and wait while, my Momma and Daddy go into a restaurant? I just don't think it is fair at all. Discrimination, I tell you. Discrimination!!

Dear Friends,
This is an emergency bark for GODIG Members and Youngster Alike. We MUST become a united front against the calamity that is taking shape. I have to hurry because Momma would never allow me to send this out. Humans are completely oblivious to this. When they see it happening all they are going to do is say oooh and aaah how pretty. It is a danger to us all. We must figure out what to do. The Humans will not do anything. Okay, A little while ago, I went for a walk with Momma. A Piece of the sky fell to the ground. Momma showed me and said "Oooh Benji see that?" It is so pretty. It wasn't pretty. It was dangerous!!! What is going to hold the sun up so Nala and Honey can sunbake? What is going to hold the clouds up so that it can rain so that we can all have grass? I have sent out a twilight bark to all the dogs around here and from the sound of things, word has spread to the outer regions of my community. I also warned all outside dogs to take shelter. I suggest you all do the same in your own areas. Then we must have meeting to figure out what to do. The sooner the better! I think it may take a couple of days to get the word spread to all MDS members. I suggest we all get together on Monday to discuss what to do.
