My Blog Entry
My DNA test is DONE!
In a blog I wrote about 2 months ago, I told of my mom sending off a cheek swab to be tested by Canine Heritage to determine what kind of doggy I am. It was part curiosity, part knowledge for health and behavior info. Well, she told me that they said either I'm a "MUTT" or a pure or part breed of the many breeds they don't have a tested database for. They only have research for 108 AKC breeds. Since they just certified the Plott Hound, Mom thought it would be good to go. So, she was disappointed by the test that showed "unknown". Anyway, I did remind her that she originally thought (way back before age 1) that I was a rare breed, an american dog breed known as a "Treeing Tennessee Brindle". She dismissed this as unlikely because of the rarity of the breed. But after doing more research Mom is pretty certain that I am either a pure one or part one. Height, weight, color, ears, bark, skull shape and more are all within the standard. It has been noted that the TTB came by mating Plotts with Curs and other smaller dogs back in the mid-1800's. Mom may never know if she's right or not. I told her that I am what I am and it really doesn't matter at all!
HERE ARE SOME TTB PIX:

NOW, HERE'S A PIC OF POGO A FEW MONTHS AGO:
So, what do you think? Part TTB? I'd love to know what you think?

We're convinced too.
And while we really don't care what breed you are, it really is nice to know for health reasons. Human's health & dog's health actually.
