Brianna is truely a miracle dog in my boyfriend's and my eyes. She was first given to me by my boyfriend as a graduation present (he knows that I'm an animal lover and how bad I wanted a dog). She was only four months old when we got her from the North Pheonix Humane Society. She was adorable and very well trained!!! Before we left Arizona to come back home to Connecticut, we had asked our families if it was alright to bring her home with us. My mom had 2 male dogs and his mom had a 1, but they agreed. She would live with my mom and me. After about 5 months living with my mom and me, she started feeling like nothing was hers (all dogs shared the same food/water dishes, as well as the toys). When she started getting aggressive with food, and started "playing" with things that weren't hers (which she never did in AZ), my mom made me get rid of her. My boyfriend and I found a home for her, which we thought was going to be good. She seemed to get along with the family and animals. At first things were ok. We'd call the new owners and they stated that everything was great, she loved the kids, she's nervous around stairs (our typical dog). Then all communication stopped. We thought we lost her for 3 yrs. My boyfriend and I never felt whole after we had "lost" her. It was difficult to talk about her cuz we new tears would be coming. Once he and I started looking for an apartment together, we applied for one of the few that allowed pets, and we wanted to take it just in case we ever decided to get another animal. A few weeks before moving, I got a phone call from my step-dad. He had informed me that there was a picture of a Blue Tick Hound named "Brianna" in the paper. He gave me the number and I called the lady from the Sadie Mae Foundation. I asked her all about the dog, what she looked like, everything (cuz I had not seen a pic). We made an apointment to see this "mystery" dog. That night my boyfriend and I searched everywhere to find anything that linked her to us (cuz all of the vet records had gone to the family we gave her to). We arrived the next day at the shelter, before we saw her, we showed the lady the pictures and she informed us that Brianna was actually found 4 towns over with no tags. Just the collar we bought her 3 years prior, and a small piece of paper with her name taped to it. She was picked up by the local pound and was a day away from being euthinized. As my boyfriend and I start crying because we might have lost her, we hear her howl. We turn the corner and there is our little girl, jumping up on the fence. We went into the pen where she was held and dropped to our knees. It was our little girl. She was fatter, but she still had that gleam in her eye when we first got her 4 years ago. She licked our faces, wagged her tail, and yelped in glee. We had finally found our missing piece of our family and we can not thank Sadie Mae enough for saving her and us.
