I am retired from the Police Department. I am a girl dog and alot of people didn't think I was good enough due to my gender! I loved to find bad guys and drugs! I am playful and a little bit of a Ho as I love all men that come to my house. (As long as they have been invited over) Don't ring my door bell because I get really mad and protective. I have a special person that I LET stay with me if my Mom goes out of town. I let Jennifer (dogsandcats) lay on my leather couch with me and I demand that her husband come see me too! I know that most people don't understand me because I am a Malinois but I don't care because I LOVE life. My next door neighbor, Ranger (a most handsome German Shepherd) , has a Mom that I love very much! Her name is Paula and she comes over and lets me out when My Mom is at work. Paula understands me and does not get upset or scared when I run at her barking crazily (I am Malinois hear me roar!) when she unlocks the door! I like to pretend like I am biting my Mommy when she says "I give up" and she throws her hands up in the air like a BAD person! My friend Teddy is a K9 Officer (Frosty) and he sometimes gets out his bite sleeve and lets me run at him as fast as I can and then I get to bitey him......oh so much fun! My friend BOE, another K9 (retired) from Michigan, is coming to see me in January and we are going to get to bitey the bite suit and find drugs. I am so excited I can't wait!!!!! By the way, Jessyk9 is my old room mate that was my Moms "other" K9 partner. Jessy died of Breast cancer a year ago Thanksgiving. Mom can't seem to let go of her but that is OK because we both miss her very much! Jessy was also a Malinois from Holland! Thanks for reading about me and I would love to be your BFF! I promise I won't be a bad influence! |

| JESSY was the LOVE OF MY LIFE! She was my second police dog and my first Belgian Malinois! I had just found out that my K9 partner Turo was going to have to be pulled out of service due to various conditions. I was so unhappy as Turo and I had only spent a little over 2 yrs together. He was a beautiful German Shepherd from Holland. He was 117 pounds! I still think the guys picked him out for me thinking he would over power me and I would leave K9. It didnt work that way because he was a jewel. I will write more about him when I can post his picture. Since he was my first K9 partner and we didn't have time to accomplish much, there weren't alot of pictures of him. He was a beautiful boy, you'll see! Anyway, Jessy was wonderful. I went up to the kennels to pick out my new partner but prior to going up to the kennels, a trainer I knew said that there was a female Malinois at Vohne Liche that he had trained. He said she was a a super dog and the perfect match for me. I drove 4 hours, by myself, to go find my new partner and the trainer KEN asked me what kind of dog I was looking for this time. I said JESSY. he said Oh, PERFECT! She had been owned by another officer that had had a few car wrecks with her and collapsed her lung on the last wreck. She recovered after surgery, six months later. She wouldnt work for him and dreaded the "CAR thing!" My Sgt. said it was OK for me to bring her home and try her out but to MAKE sure she would be a good working dog. He made me PROMISE I would take her back if she wasn't right for the job. Well, we bonded and two weeks later she was back to finding drugs and tracking up a storm. She loved BITE work and everyone thought she was a one of a kind. The guys in the Unit thought she would be a sissy because she was of the female gender (there it is again!) but she showed em! She ran and bit them and slammed them all over the place, she was tough as nails! She liked to hit them with her front feet in the "you know where" which I found rather funny! I guess it's a girl thing since Tessa does the same thing! If you want to read a wonderful story about Jessy go to Vohne Liche kennel website and click on the memorial page and be sure to have kleenex close by! Jessy was a superior dog. I could use her to find drugs and bad guys and then take her in the schools and she would sit and let the kids pet and love on her. SHe found a missing lady that had been missing an estimated 5-7 days. No one could find her but Jessy did! Jessy won awards and was on the cover of a magazine! She was on TV on a regular basis, helping a young girl named Stephanie to raise money to buy bullet proof vests for other police K9s. Jessy won the hearts of many people. She made me very popular on the Department. I wanted her to live forever. Unfortunately she got cancer. Breast cancer at that. I made the decision to have surgery done to MAKE SURE I would have her for one last Christmas. It didn't work. I had to put her to sleep Thanksgiving morning. What a tough day that was. I took her in the police car for her one last ride. I didn't cry until I got in the line at the vets office. It was packed. I was about 7th in line and Jessy was wagging her tail and looking up at me like she always did. One of the receptionists looked at me as I was a regular in there lately. Surgeries, medicines plus Tessa had eaten a piece of Tennis ball and had to have surgery at the same time to get it out! When the lady looked at me I lost it. I couldn't speak. I couldn't tell her why I was there and then I just started balling. We were rushed out of the room and back to a private room as she knew why I was there! JESSY had been in such pain the whole night. We had cuddled on the floor on comforters all night. No matter what I did I couldnt get her comfortable. It was time and I hated it! The vet let me have some more time with her and when he came back he asked if I wanted more time but I thought if I kept putting it off then I was selfish. I wanted her out of her pain. I wanted her to go to the Rainbow Bridge, to run and play and be whole again! I wanted her to guard those pearly gates and run all the bad guys back down stairs to where they belonged...I wanted my Jessy to know that I would miss her but I was trying to not be selfish and keep her alive just for me! I held her close and talked about all the bad guys and drugs she found.......I told her I loved her till she fell asleep. It happened so fast and then I wondered if I should have spent one more day with her.....????????? To this day (a yr plus later) I still cry when I think about her. Jessy was with me when I had to put Turo to sleep and then there was a divorce and problem after problem....but she was there for me every day and night. She slept in my bed as long as I didn't stretch and touch her toes (she hated that!) Luckily Tessa was recovering at home from her surgery so she and I cuddled for days .....she has stepped in to take Jessys place but it just isn't the same. Jessy worshipped me. I remember when we graduated from the K9 handlers school at Vohne Liche kennels. The trainer/owner Ken said that Jessy gave me new life and I gave her new life.....and he was soooo right! I mourne for Jessy but I know that she is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I wish you could have met her! |

Turo was my first police dog. He was young and full of energy. Turo was a sable giant. He weighed about 117 pounds and was quite the handful! We grew together in the K9 Unit. He was only with me for two years before he was struck with Lyme Disease. I retired Turo and moved on to Jessy. Jessy and I would have to sneak out to the police car when we went to work. I parked my car at the end of the driveway so he wouldnt have to see us go! The day I had to put him to sleep, I put on my uniform and took him for a drive in HIS car. We barked at the deers and had a really good time! He kissed his MOMMY every day of his life! I missed working with him terribly but Jessy became my soul mate and we made our K9 runs in his memory!
