Tinkerbell was adopted by "Heaven" from Chihuahua Rescue in AZ.  Heaven specifically requested a tiny Chihuahua and got one -Tinkerbell is only 2 pds! She has long hair and has been mistaken for a cat!  When Heaven first adopted Tinks she had really bad teeth (common with that breed).  So immediately Heaven took Tinks to the vet for a teeth cleaning.  Poor Tinks - they removed over 7 teeth!  Only left her canines (fangs) and a few back molers.  Well it gets worse....last year during a trip to UT Tinks jumped off a high area and broke her jaw.  She had to be taken to the emergency vet hospital for surgery.  Turns out it was a blessing in diguise because during the surgery they found out she had developed a severe infection and had to have her bottom jaw removed.  If that accident had not happened she could have died from the infection without Heaven knowing - because Tinks did not act like she was sick.  It was a long recovery and a bit touch and go but Tinks is strong for a tiny thing and has made a full recovery - and still eats her HARD food!  Her tongue sticks out all the time, but that just makes her look even more adorable.
