Gordie is the mama's boy in our family.

I met him for the first time in April 20008 and i wanted to bring him home then but the boyfriend said no ... the rescue guy said if it was meant to be then Gordie would be there when we were ready to adopt. In June we were ready to adopt and he was still there so he came home with us after spending 9 months in the rescue center.

Gordie is a big black neutered male greyhound with lots of war wounds from his life on the race track.

He's the snuggler always wanting to sit on your lap and lick your face. He's very social and goes to doggy daycare where he plays with his friends Danik (golden retriever) and Rosie (boarder collie cross). He loves his squeekie toys and will eat just about anything.

He hogs the sofa and the bed. He's not a big fan of cats but he's learned to live with his feline house mates rather well.

Gordie is going to be tested in November 2009 to be a St. Johns Ambulance therapy dog like his (step) brother Server.

So the boyfriend and I decided after 2 years that we wanted to get a dog, neither of us had ever had one before so we looked around at various breeds for months. Jeremy didn't really like greyhounds though "they looked girly". Then I introduced him to the Delhi greyhound lady and her 8 greys and it was love.

The next day we drove out to GRA Canada ... just to look ... Bill let us into the kennel and there was Server at the very back of the barn, tucked away into a corner. I told the boyfriend "we're taking this one home" but he made me look at a dozen or so other dogs before agreeing that Server was the one for us.

Looking at his paperwork (after we paid the fees) I noticed Server has the same birthday as I do and that his old owner/breeder has the same name as my boss (at the time) in my opinion it was karma.

I introduced Server around town and next thing I knew we had St. Johns Ambulance calling us because they had heard so much about him and they asked us if they could test him to be a Therapy Dog. A couple of months later he went for the testing and passed with flying colors.

Server visits retirement homes and he's a natural at it.

Server is a real Daddys boy so when the boyfriend and I went our own ways I was okay with letting him stay with "daddy" because i know that they were more bonded.

Server enjoys car rides and going to daycare (except when she cuts his nails) ... he's a hit at teh vets office too and always gets a warm welcome there. He's very reserved with his affection and not the type that would just come up to you ... he's not shy he just likes to watch you and wait for you to come to him.

Server loves cats and sometimes I am convinced that he thinks he is one.
