Velvet ...

I wanted a dog that would be loving and protective of myself and my step kids. In came Velvet ... She is a big, bold, don't mess with me girl. She can be intimidating until you know her. She loves her family and she loves her friends.

Velvet was a challenge to train. She was so strong! She'd drag me across streets, down backs and out of my seat at outdoor restaurants!

We put in a years worth of training - we had a blast and I learned so much about her, dogs, me ...

She loves the beach and playing with the waves - in and out and in and out. She likes to socialize with dogs the same way vs. be engaged in intense play. She is a very independant gal!

Velvet is an adventure and I am enjoying every part of it. Now she is 12 years old and we going into the slow down, sniff and linger phase. That's o.k. Can't be a power dog everyday.

I love her so.

Albert was on the run when I found him 2 months ago. I finally caught up with and --- collar, no tag.

So I brought him home and started the search. 4 Days later a neighbor recognized him and it turned out that he lived just 5 houses down from us!

Long story short he escaped again and the gal who found him called us. (We had put a tag on him with our number.) It took us about a week to catch up with his owners who we happy to have us adopt him and - we did!

Albert has settled down nicely in our home. He was a very anxious, high strung dog - had been alone most days for 12-14 hours. Now he has me most days (I work at home) and he has my husband's lap by night.

He needs a playmate tho! Velvet will participate up to a point ... Gengus Kitty does the same ... Then he pushed them over the top and Velve is baring her teeth and Gengus is swatting away!

Never a dull moment since Albert came home to stay!

The Barker's Dozen Friendship Card Pack aims to make friends laugh and feel loved while raising funds for fur friends.
