I'm sick. Going to vet tomorrow.

Mom says I am sick. I didn't eat breakfast and won't eat dinner - but I did eat some pastrami. And grass. I am acting somewhat normal but depressed like. Mom is sure something is wrong with me. Dad is going to have to figure out some way to take me to the doctor tomorrow. I will update you all on how I am as soon as I know. ~ Abigail

Update:  Last night, I tried to feed Abi the EN Gastro-Intestinal food the vet gave us and she wasn't interested.  Ate a few bites.  She did drink water.  This morning, again she won't eat anything but drank out of the hose.  She is becoming more sluggish and lethargic which I suspect is partly attributable to having eaten nothing, now day 3.  So, the vet said yesterday that if she doesn't improve in several days to bring her back.  We plan on bringing her back Saturday morning if we see no change.  She threw up once last night.  The pills are supposed to ease that.

Part of me feels ok - the vet didn't seem to think it was serious and it would correct itself - the other part of me is thinking, oh god - is it cancer or something like that?

I will keep you all updated.

Update:  Hubby just called.  They did the bloodwork and checked her out and said she is healthy for a dog almost 8 years old.  They found nothing wrong with her or her stool.  They think it may just be a very upset stomach.  Gave him a bunch of costly meds (isn't that how it always goes) and send them on their way.  She is 81 lbs now so I think she has lost a little weight.  Anyhow, we're supposed to watch her... She did horrible at the vet as I expected.  She HATES it there.  So, we're hoping she'll be back to normal in no time.  Glad it wasn't that scary "serious" word though!

We hope it isn't anything serious and that you are soon feeling better. Don't forget to let everyone know what the vet says.

We're thinking about you, Abs, and sending only the bestest of thoughts your way. If your tail is wagging and you are eating grass, that isn't all bad, right? Maybe the doc will just give you some Pepto and send you on your way home! Keep us posted.

Update on Abi:  My husband got a few hours off this morning to take her to the vet.  He called to make an appt. for later today but they said it could be serious and to bring her now.  I haven't heard from him yet.  She still wasn't interested in food this morning and didn't eat dinner last night but she drank water with encouragement.  We suspect she may have eaten something dead like a rotting carcass. We were able to coax her to eat a tiny bit of something and to drink too-  and her tail was wagging so that is a good sign.  I am just worried when they say "It could be serious"  but thinking rationally - they could say that about anything - so we'll see.  I will let you all know as soon as I know something.  Thanks for your support.
