How much is that doggy in the window?

There are lots of things about life I don't understand. I'm well aware of the fact that I probably won't ever understand some things. But for the LIFE of me, I cannot understand how a person could abuse an animal, ESPECIALLY a dog. I'm not only talking about indivudual abuse and neglect, but those people who associate themselves with puppymillers and dog auctioners.

I don't understand how a person can look at a dog and see dollar signs. I don't understand how a dog can be viewed as an object, as a money machine. This is not my Bleeding Heart Liberal side of me coming out--this is basic human decency I'm questioning. How can you look at an animal--whose only goal in life is to love you--and turn around and breed them until they die, force them to live in wire kennels, deprive them of human contact, ignore their health issues?

Did you know that MIssiouri is one of the leading states for puppy mills? I've even heard it called the puppy mill capital of the U.S. One statistic I read stated that Missouri provides more dogs to pet stores than every other state COMBINED.

I live in this state.

I've go so much more to say on this issue--about pet stores, about imported puppies, about Ellen DeGeneres. But I don't have time for that today.
