Getting to know Us

I am answering for both Rocco and I. He hasnt learn how to use the keyboard yet without stepping all over the keys.

Do you bark when someone knocks at your door? I dont and I dont think Rocco has learned what knocking is. So no, he doesnt either.

Do you sleep on your owner’s bed at nightime? Rocco does, I like the floor better. Hard for me to get in the bed right now, until my daddy makes us that step stool.

Are you in general mischievous? who me? rocco? nooooooo …

Would Ceasar Milan be proud of your owner or would have a few things to say? My owner is better than Ceasar!

Do you have a best friend to play with? I didnt for about a year until my daddy got rocco. Now he likes to play with me and I try to avoid him for now until he quits nibbling at my paws and tail.

Do you get excited and jump around when your parent(s)arrive home or do you remain calm and cool? We jump all over him and try to knock ‘em down. We whine, bark lick, run around. We are so excited to see him, mainly cus we know it is outside and dinner time.

Does your Mom (or Dad) leave the tv or radio on when they have to leave you at home alone? No, he used to, but I much rather enjoy the silence and sleep time while Rocco is in his crate. Finally, some me time.

Do you like other dogs besides your pals on DP? Yes. I make and have lots of friends around the neighborhood and down at the beach. I am sure my daddy will introduce Rocco to all my friends down there this spring/summer.

Do you like cats? We have had two cats, Ashley (RIP) and Tux. They are Ok as long as they dont bother me and realize who runs this place. Rocco Luvs Tux. He just runs him downa dn tackles him. I think he thinks it is a movable toy.

What is your most unique habit? high Five’n my dad during Bears games! Rocco, right now, he head butts stuff. Not sure if that is unique or not. But it is what he does.

What is your favorite thing to do with your Mom or Dad? car rides and walks for sure!

What proves that you are the Alpha in your house (that you have Mom/Dad wrapped around your paw)? when I get in the trash and throw it all around when I am mad at him and he doesnt yell at me. He knows he did wrong! I need to show Rocco too.

This is the Macho Manifesto, the creed of our being.

Members of the Macho Men’s Club are: We are never a bully, but a protector against those who seek to harm our Divas.

  • We shall protect our Divas against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
  • We may ride on a Harley, but we have big hearts.
  • We are sincere, caring and sensitive to our brothers and sisters.
  • We never curse, but when necessary will use strong language to make our point.
  • We are the voice for the weak and those who se ek to exploit them.
  • We never drool, but will slobber if it is in our breed to do so.
  • We are here to be a strong manly voice in a world of disrespect and insincerity.

Our mission in life is to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves, to make sure our Divas are treated fairly and sincerely and to always adhere to the principles of right and justice as practiced by our hero MIGHTY DOG.

New Family Member

Yesterday, we get up early, he gets in the shower, gets dressed and I am thinking, "Great, another day home alone." I hate it since he has gone back to work as he has been home for almost two weeks and we have done everything together. Anyway, he grabs my leash and says "Wanna go for a truck ride." I am up on off the couch in a heart beat.

We hit McDonalds to get some breakfast. Him, his sausage mcmuffin and me the egg! woof woof . Then we are on the highway. I am thinking, "Yeah Yeah yeah! A long ride to a park unknown." I love these kinds of rides. Its raining out but I dont care, I am out the window getting drenched. Today was the perfect day.

Then we stopped. Next thing I know, my owner gets out of the truck. He comes back and has this little furry thing in his arms. I was stretching so far around the corner of the cab to see, I almost popped an eyeball. Then he turns around and I jump back in my seat like I could care less. He then brings this furry thing in to the truck and says, "What do you think Bj?" I was like, "What? Is this a trick question?" And immediately I turn away and ignore them all.

So on the ride home, this little thing keeps going underneath my legs, trying to do something under there. so I just jumped over the front seat in to the back and was done with it. But then my dad pulled over and made me get back upfront. he was being so nice I just wanted to do what he asked.  So I came up front and just laid with my back to both of them, pretending I was sleeping the rest of the way home.

So as you can tell, there is another dog here now. He is small, black and white and looks like Indy when he was younger, but I know it wasnt Indy.

I told him he could put some pics up on my profile, but soon, he has to get the little trouble maker his own profile.

A few days now ..

Its been a few days since she has been home so I figured I would write with another update for her since she still cant keep her paws straight enough to type anything out.

For the last few days everything has appeared to be fine. She is eating, scratching like crazy, is up and down off the couch and rushes to the door, ok sways and slides to the door quickly, everytime she thinks I am headed out.

She was doing good with drinking water until yesterday. She has never been one to drink a lot of water, but I know she needs it. Some one suggested Chicken bouillion mixed up and cooled. I tried that, she wasnt buying it. I put in some fresh spring water this morning …. so far a few licks, but that is it. She is pooping and peeing just fine.

Yesterday she attempted to go up and down the stairs. She did better then me. It was about 4 or 4:30am yesterday, and I was trying to be careful not to step on her and carry her up, etc. so I go to turn, (the bottom of the stairs is a tight spot), and I tripped over my own foot and went nose first into the stairs. She however, just goes right around me and wizzes up the stairs, two at a time. I am like, can ya help a bruther out here??? lol … So she made it up just fine yesterday.

However she seemed to have a problem standing up inside last night. but she is still jumping on the couch ok and walking it appears, just fine.

Well, time for her morning med. Its wierd, it is like she is waiting on it now every morning. hmmm … whata  surprise she will get when it stops. :)

Also, thanks to everyone for the get well wishes and cards, it really helps her, and me, to heal to see all those. I show her the screen, she licks me, I read a few, she licks me, so I am sure it is helping her. Everyone has been great, we appreciate it.

Have a Woof Woof of a Day!

Saturday and Sunday

I realized I was updating the forum with information and didnt put it on her blog for others to view.

Saturday Morning:

the Doc called. He got the work back from the kidney test and it wasnt looking that good. He was going to fax the information but the important things he mentioned were:

B.U.M: (Blood Urine something), Good is up to 25, she is at 42
Creatinine: good is up to 1.6, she is 1.9
Glucose: good is between 70-130, she is at 67.

Her Glucose was low last year when we did all the same tests then. Doc says something is obviously going on with the kidneys. It could be chronic kidney, or something else he mentioned. He mentioned her going on a low protien kidney diet. I am going to check in to the Old Roy brand and see if they have something with low protein. I asked if it was something to do with the infection, but he hasnt gotten all the results back yet, or the lyhme disease, so he didnt say. He said we can talk more later once I get the fax and review it. He wanted to let me know those and just check on her. Asked if she was throwing up, is there any blood, etc. She isnt throwing up and there isnt any extra blood from her mouth. She was panting yesterday for teh first time and I look up in there and didnt see anything cleeding, but couldnt see much, cus she kept closing her mouth when I looked.

I gave her the antibiotic with some food that morning. What I did was just microwave a few chunks of her soft food and mashed it up, she licked it all up and wanted more. I gave her half an egg white too as I didnt want her to get sick. but she has seemed fine and been sleeping all day. I am going to do the same thing now. about two spoon fuls.

I feel better just seeing her feel better, but I know there is more.

I got to keep the teeth. She goes back in a little over a week to remove the remaining stuff.

Doc says we will take more blood next month and rerun the kidney test. Right now, we should just take care of the teeth, infection, etc. She had a high temp so she didnt get her shots.

He seems like a good vet. Just expensive. But so far, he has been good to us. Always there if I call. Tells me to call him and let him know how she is. So it is worth the extra $$, as long as he keeps it reasonable. he seems to really care, but it is still a fairly new relationship. :)

Sunday:

She slept most of the day as I watche football. of course I forgot she was sleeping and jumped up and yelled a few times at the Tv, which woke her, but she was fine and went back to sleep.

Earlier in the morning before the games, I was just going to Walmart to get her some soft mushy food, and she jumped up and stood in front of the door, so i took her. We took teh scenic route and drove along the beach coast where we walk and she was out the window like nothing was wrong.

Last night, I gave her a full can of soft food with all her meddies and she ate it up, pretty quickly too. She has been drinking more then her fair share of water as well. so everything looks good on the outside. just waiting on more results etc.

Thanks all for checking in on her and all the advice, get well wishes and support. You’s have all been great to Bj and I.

Bj is Home

I wanted to post and let everyone know that Bj is now home and sleeping pretty soundly. The doctor had removed two of the really bad teeth. He said there was a ton of pus underneath both of the teeth and it was a real mess to clean up it was so bad. But he thinks it looks pretty good. He needs her to come back next week to pull the 3rd effected tooth.

he sent off some of the infection for a culture to see what kind of bacteria it is and what it could effect. He took some blood and sent that off as well. he is testing for:

CBC

Chemistry

T4

Lyme

Heartworm

and something with a "P" Looks like phlelestouy

we should know something tomorrow on the culture and most of the blood work. After the culture is done, we will see which path to go if there were any organs effected based on the bacteria so more tests might be needed for that and then possibly cancer. He didnt want to go on until he got some results back, then he could tell me which way we needed to go.

We go back in a little over a week to remove the remaining tooth, (granted the test results are all good), and get her shots.

She has antibiotics she is on and he gave her a prescription for Primadel for her sore leg.

Her trip home was comical, she was pretty out of it still from the pain meds and anesthesia. She was quite stoned and feeling no pain it looks like. She wasnt walking a very straight line. It was funny.

Anyway, we will know more over the next few days and update the blog as we get more info on the results.

Thanks to everyone who wished her well and was there for her stressed pops. It was mucho appreciated and she would give you a woof, if she could put her keep her head up! I am sure she will be glad to hear how concerned everyone was.

Much love

Joey (Bj’s Owner)

My Summer

Its been awhile since my blog was updated, 76 days to be exact according to the counter. I know this has had many of you barking at the moon with wonder as to where I have been. Some have even written, like my friends Tucker and Sascha; worried, I was no longer above the ground and pulling my usual pranks and antics around my owner. Rest assured, I am alive and kickin’ dirt still. I am sure I will be around for many more years if not only but to pester my owner.

I know many of my pals are wondering what I did this summer since I was hardly around. I tell you, my owner has kept me busy. I have many stories about my travels and summer vacation, my times at the beach and about the newest addition of a family member. (who I still am not liking that he is around)

The last I left off is where my owner gave me my "summer" cut. it was real short. he promised to post the pictures, but still hasnt. Maybe since he is out here now, he will upload some. I will shoot him my puppy’est dog look. If you see new pics, you know it worked. So do feel free to try that at home. (I am sure you have)

Anyway, I have been all over this summer. It seems my owner has been around a lot lately. Must be feeling guilty finally for leaving me home so much since the split last summer. He has been leaving when it is dark and coming home when it was dark. But since a few months ago, well, when we stopped writing, he has been around a LOT more and taking me everywhere.

We are going out for long car rides all the time. I know we went back home to visit friends & family  where I and he was born. So we were out in Midwest for awhile this summer.  I didnt get to see my moms, (we arent very close though), but I got to see all my friends from back home. I got lots of treats as usual, went to the lake a lot and didnt have to eat a kibble of that blah dog food. I love visiting our friends and family. I swear, I gain 10 pounds every time. But it was so much fun! I cant wait to go back.

We went to West Viriginia and brought home this demon looking gray cat. To me, it is just one large rodent. Like a big gray Mouse! The good thing is, he has been getting in to a lot of trouble, so it keeps me out of the shed. It kind of makes me smile to see him getting in to so much trouble. Its got me to thinking, I can do things like I used to, and he will get blamed. O, the fun is just starting.

We have been going to the beach just about everyday when we are in town. I made a lot of friends down there. Not every dog is friendly, nor do their owners let them sniff at me, but I have made quite a few friends down there. And my owner gets a good tan. My owner gets mad some times cus people will stop to talk and pet me, and not even talk to him. I dont think he likes me being called a cutie more then him. Just the other day, we were walking a trail, and two ladies walked by and said, "Hey cutie". He of course interjected and said "hey there". Like they meant him … ugh!

My owner has had a couple of lady friends hang with us some times this summer. None of which I would shake my tail at. Some, made me put my tail between my legs and run. I am not sure if it was my doing or not, but none stuck around. I am not sure I am ready for him to date yet, so I can shake a tail feather that I dont have a new lady owner.

We got in to a pretty bad accident to end the summer. The truck got hit from behind pretty bad. I was thrown all the way to the front. But luckily, I only had an MCL Sprain, and no paw breaks. So I was just hobbling for a few days. But my owner got really hurt and was not around for about a week. We finally just got the truck back last week. Even though the rental was nice, I like the truck and missed it.

So all in all, it was a lazy dog days of summer for me. I have gotten back in shape with all the exercise, made some new friends, got to see my friends from back home, and now live with this large rodent. Oh, by the way, his name is tux. I swear, next time he swats at me, I am taking a paw!

Glad to be back

NickName is Trouble ...

I got in lots of trouble the last few days… I was on my usual scavenger hunt while my owner was at work. I remember there being chicken wings last night for dinner, so I knew they had to be somewhere in that big container underneath the papers, empty cans and other items he tosses in there all the time. I had saw him toss them in there last night after dinner. So I was in pursuit as soon as he closed the door this morning.

Need less to say, he was mad at me when he got home. I didnt really realize the mess it made on the kitchen floor until he walked in. There was trash all over the floor. But hey, I got the wings! He didnt hit me or anything, but he yelled something fierce which made me wet my bed. Now, I am all covered in pee. He wasnt too happy, but I knew that would get me out of the ass whoopin’ I could have gotten. The not so good part though is that now, I dont have a bed, and he gave me a bath right then and there!!!

I think the punishment fit the crime … but that doesnt mean I cant have an attitude about it. So I kept my cool and was quiet until he went to bed last night.

I ended up getting him back by pooping right next to his side of the bed. He didnt say anything or yell, just gave me this disapointed look this morning when he woke up and saw it.

He cleaned it up, just called me a bad girl, and ignored me for a bit. I still got to go to the beach though… and got my white egg for breakfast … he is such a softie …
