Ticks are disgusting vile little creatures
Mom is beyond furious! She is also totally grossed out She found two ticks on my snout today ! I am a good boy and lie still while they remove them .One of them did’nt want to come out and I may have to go to the vets tomorrow to make sure its all gone! SO Mom is also “Ticked” because she Gives me Revolution once a month and it does not seem to be working as well as she thinks it should!
The Tick bite I got the other day seems to be healing very slowly .It was scary at first because It was a bullseye rash and now it just looks like a bruise .Mom cleans all the tick bite areas with peroxide and puts neosporin on them too.She shaved me even more though to make sure she wasnt missing any So now I look like a chihuahua .Princess was very naughty and when Mom tried to shave her she went wild and would not sit still ,Dad even tried to help but Mom and Dad did not want to hurt her so they used a towel to wrap her legs up and lay her on her back And then they checked her instead of clipping her face fur ? I will not allow photos to be taken of me in the state that I am in .No way Jose !
I am glad that its warm out otherwise I may freeze my tushie off !
Any and all advice for tick prevention would be greatly appreciated ! I am thankful I have yet to have a flea on me !

Mommy uses Frontline Plus on me too. As for the weight thing she was concerned because I am 8 pounds but I have never had a problem. I love going in the woods. As an extra precaution just in case I do ever get one, I have been vacinated against Lyme disease. Your mom may want to check that out too. Good luck - Sami
Oh, and if you use the frontline just no baths or swimming for 48 or 72 hours.

Thank you All ,I will find out about the frontline + ,My Vet was saying we should be on the revolution because its more tailored to the weight of the dog .He said that the other brands he gave to small dogs always seemed to cause reactions? But I will ask him .I weigh 11 lbs and Princess Apples weighs 4 pounds.So far after mom gave us the revolution we havent had any more ticks .We have never had fleas I think that would totally freak out my Mom.The Vet also gave us these Flea collars to use when we are hiking.Of course all the warning labels scare mom something awful.The two marks on my snout have scabbed up and I am not having any limping or lethargic symptoms ,Its been over one week now so Maybe I will be okay .We HOPE !

We learned our lesson the hard way ~ Mom used one of the online services once....and while the boxes LOOKED authentic, the medicine (Frontline +) was like NOTHING. Our house, yard and BODIES got ticks - both kinds ! Best to get your meds from your vet (rarely guaranteed, otherwise). Also, apply the F+ after a walk (when blood circulation is up) and remove your collar for a few hours! Sprinkle carpets with Borax, rake it in, then vacuum the next morning. The AusSiebelts

Oh you should read an old blog of ours titled "The F Bomb" ... no profanity just about fleas and ticks and when Mom forgot a monthly treatment. It was a disaster and our human Dad got a tick! We use Frontline Plus and like they sing on one of the other brands ads "There aint no fleas on me, there aint no fleas on me, there might be bugs on some of your mugs, but there aint no fleas on me!" BOL the kids sing it all the time and there are shiba puppies in the TV ads. Best of luck and let us know how you do at the vet. Also if it makes you feel any better we voted for you in the cuteness contest, so ticks or no ticks you are still a cutie pie!

Bennylikes to walk close to the river, and in a wooded area. Is this a bad area for ticks.....Ifound a fle on him the other day, and went up and turned left !......Thanks for the tip about the baby oil/ olive oil. ......Hope your hair grows back soon.

Tell mommy a good way to remove ticks is to use baby oil or olive oil. They will just pop right out head and all!

That's what I use too, uh oh. I hope your Mommy finds something that keeps those icky things off of you. Your hair will grow back, it was for your own good, I am sure.
