Hi...my name is Astrid. I was adopted from the Santa Cruz Humane Society in Nogales, AZ in December 2006 when I was two. I'm three and a half now and I live in North Carolina. We moved to North Carolina just five months after being adopted by my mom and dad. I go to day camp twice a week and I'm working on my CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certificate and my Delta Therapy Dog certification. Yep...I could brag on and on about how smart, pretty, and loving I am but you know what? There are shelters across the country full of dogs just like me. If you know someone looking for a canine companion, especially a BIG canine companion something like me, please tell 'em my story and to ADOPT, DONT SHOP! Thank you.

Good morning Astrid. Ahem we need to clear something up. We are not "average" sized yorkies. I (Zack) weigh 13.5 pounds and I (Quincy) weigh 14.5 pounds. Our mom likes big yorkies, which makes us happy because that's why she chose us (or at least she thinks she chose us and we let her go on thinking that even though we each chose her). In England our breed was 12 to 20 pounds; we have been "downsized" here in the good old U.S.A. We think Sami and Scarlett are probably average sized yorkies. As for the really tiny yorkies, we are quite surprised that you have seen them on leashes because we have never seen one that wasn't being held, in a purse/carrier, or in a stroller.
About the fireworks, we weren't scared of the noise, we just didn't like it and we wanted it to stop. We certainly didn't want it to get any closer or any louder. And we don't understand why they have to make noise. Can't they find a way to make them still look pretty but be silent while doing so??????
We are having a boring weekend so far. Well, not entirely boring because we have played quite a few indoor games, but we haven't been swimming since Wednesday, and we didn't swim much the last week. First we got a bath instead of swimming last Sunday, then no swimming Monday cause we looked and smelled too good, then swimming Tuesday and Wednesday, then grooming Thursday (hello we had just had a bath on Sunday), then no swimming on Friday cause we looked and smelled too good, then no swimming yesterday because it was raining all afternoon. The smelling too good isn't a problem anymore as I (Zack) managed to roll in enough things to be rewarded with an "Ewww you stink" at bedtime last night. 
The plan today is to make sure we get in the pool before the afternoon rains come.

i thought she had enough common sense to know better. i'm sooo worried about those dogs and i still think she needs to take them to the vet but i don't think she will. shes afraid they will get her for animal cruelty. i'm not sure what to do.

Wow Miss Astrid, sorry for that bark.. Thats not what it looked like when Mommy made it up.. That is strange you cant read it. Anyway is says we are doing ok, Thanks for asking you have such manners.. We will be barking alot more next week. Our company leaves Tuesday. Mommy said she is going to be lost, she will be home alone and she doesnt like that at all.. But she has us to keep her company. Mommy doesnt like this retirement thing at all!! Have a good Sunday.
