Pete was a lost dog. He came up to the house across the street dragging a big log chain which got wrapped around a bush. We recognized him at once as a Pitbull so we were very careful about approaching him. He seemed to be nothing but a playful dog just wanting love. We unwrapped the chain form the bush, put him into the fenced in back yard and fed and played with him while we looked for his owner. There was a collar around his neck with a phone number on it but after many tries, no one answered the phone. We ran an add in the newspaper and put up posters in the local stores. After several weeks, no one called about him. We had to make a decision; keep him or take him to an animal shelter. We felt that if we took him to a shelter he would be put down just because he was a Pitbull. He was such a good dog he didn't deserve that so we decided to keep him. We have never been sorry for that decision.
We took him to a Vet and they thought he was about 2 years old. He was given all shots and tested for everythng. He had heartworms so he was treated. He was neutered after he recovered from the heart worm treatment. We bought him an outdoor kennel, an indoor bed and food bowl and moved him to our house. We had to teach him to leave our 4 old cats alone but he already knew basic commands. He has been a memeber of our family since that time.
Pete found his way into a dog loving family. See Elvis and Lady Belle's pages on this site to see the rest of the family.

Does this look like the bad Pitbulls you have heard about?

Hiya Pete, Dakota here. Blaze and I are endorsing a member here on MDS who is a loyal friend to doggies. His name is Jim and his page is jehingr. He is the daddy of Sue, an irish setter who was born with only one eye. Jim has fostered another irish setter named Danni. Danni is about two years old and, due to a tough childhood, was afraid at first, but through love and patience on Jim's part has developed into a warm, social friend of Sue and Jim's. If you, or anyone you might know, has any interest in adopting Danni, please contact Jim at jehingr here on MDS for information concerning Danni.
