Please vote for Lexi. A new MDS member, Tanyia, and her dog Lexi need our help. Tina and I were responsible for the adoption - Tina was asked by the previous owners to find Lexi a home, and I knew Tanyia. On Lexi's profile, Tanyia describes some of Lexi's medical needs. Not sure I understand what you don't understand. Tanyia adopted Lexi, then found out she has a ton of unexpected medical expenses. There is a contest that would help fund some of those expenses, and I was asking MDS members to vote for Lexi in that contest. In the past we have helped members (even new members) who we know have legitimate medical expenses through donations. No donations are being requested, just a vote in a contest. This is nothing new either as members have asked for our votes for their dogs in various contests. What is different here is that I was the one who asked for everyone to help out by voting for Lexi, rather than Tanyia, her owner. I asked in her behalf. If this doesn't clarify it for you, please ask again.

Lexi still needs our votes! She is in third place, and the difference in prize money is significant: $500 for first, $200 for second, and only $50 for third. She has on such a beautiful dress (made by her talented mom), yet the dog in first place is wearing a sweat shirt and the one in second is wearing a dress that looks kind of like a sack.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting Lexi in this contest. And these contest are based on popularity. I belong to several groups and I am loyal to my groups. If someone was asking for something so simple as just placing a vote everyday, it would be a no brainer. Oh yeah that's how I recieved Lexi, by stepping up to the plate in one of my groups. Loyality is in the beholder. That why dogs make great companions, because they are loyal and would rock the vote.

Yeah there are always cost involved. But if you knew Lexi's whole story you would better understand why I'm in shock over the conditions she is in. Lexi came from a VERY well do family. Steppford home and all. The family paid around $1200.00 for the dog. So it was thought that this was just a rehoming because Lexi was snapping at the children in the home. Just goes to show you it doesn't matter how much money you have, doesn't mean you deserve a loyal and loving companion as Lexi. Does that help you understand alittle more about what is going on. I'm not rich and can afford the normal things that goes with having a companion pet. But this was not something that was planned for. My whole story is alittle more involved. It's just a simple thing to do for one of the creatures we share our lives with. But if it is to much trouble, than we understand.

To be HONEST ~ online contests are ALL about popularity. If we can support another MDS friend, let's do it! It's called being a team player. If you are uncomfortable about stepping up and voting for friend in need, that is certainly your perogative.

This seemed like an innocent request, very inline with MDS history. I have voted for every single MDS dog that has been in a contest and asked for my vote since I have been an MDS member. I thought it was just something we do for one another. Also, there have been people who joined MDS that no one knew, who had unexpected expenses, and methods were set up for MDS members to donate to their vet. Why this is different or is hitting some of you the wrong way, I haven't a clue. If you don't want to help out via voting for Lexi, by all means don't. As for my helping Tanyia out since I am "responsible for the predicament that Tanyia is in" I am prepared to do that. I believe there is a saying for this "Let no good deed go unpunished." This will not stop me from doing good deeds in the future, or from helping MDS members when they ask for my help.

Not to sound harsh, but if you worked with rescues, expenses and death every day, (which some of us, do) you might be taking these issues "to heart".

Yes! There can always be unexpected costs, but you don't throw in the towel, and abandon a pet because of a pre-existing condition. It is then, they need our love and support, more than ever. Tanyia is not going into a deficit over Lexi's expenses; just hoping to garner the support of MDS friends thru a simple online vote.
