I posted this on the training forum, but thought I'd also post here.
My 5 month old Golden (Libby) is developing a love of chasing the cats in the house.
Anyone have any ideas on how to nip this problem now before she gets too big and hurts them?

It just took Jack, my 80lb pup (he was 15 mo old when i got him. from rescue---had never seen a cat, and had ZERO manners)...once to get clawed across the nose leather.....he will still chase, but run squealing if the cats turns on him!

My cats are all declawed so unfortunately - Libby isn't going to learn through pain. LOL! This is going to take some work, but I'm going to do my best at stopping this behavior. My other 2 females are both rescues and came to me without any "cat manners". One of them I was able to get to calm down around them (not enough to be trusted with them alone though), but the other is a lost cause I'm afraid. She thinks they are there just for her to chase and torment. So - that dog spends a great deal of her time outside or in the doggie room.

YES when is the MyCatSpace coming? And I saw Golden Mom's post that I can be notified when the site is up. Where do I do that? I am well aware you all have your hands full with this site alone! Just curious as one of our famliy members got a kitten and she wants to open up a MyCatSpace account.

Thanks Blondi! One our three cats he chases in particular. Bandit is a Ragdoll, a sweetheart but kinda daft lol! He needs "protecting" and I had been putting him in my room a lot. THANK YOU I FORGOT ABOUT THIS!! (Hey we Blondes have to stick together lol!) ~Sharon & Kitsu

We taught Maya to go to her bed when told. Whenever she gets up to chase the cat or bug the cat when she doesn't want to be bothered, Maya is told to go to her bed. She goes to her bed and will sadly sit there and stare at the cat. We are still working on it, because she will just get back up 5 minutes later and go after the cat again, but it seems to be working, and she is starting to get better and better. She's also stopped being so rough when her and the cat play, like she finally understands that the cat is to small to pummel over!!
